Rock & Roll movies

Do any of you know if the 1978 movie "FM" is available on DVD yet? I know it's hard enough to find on VHS (which I do have) but it would be great to find DVD.

On that subject, what are some of your 3 favorite Rock & Roll-type flicks.
I have to list "FM" among mine and I know there are a ton of other even better suggestions the Oldies gang must have, too.

"The Girl Can't Help It"
"Don't Knock the Rock"
"The Buddy Holly Story"

There are tons more.

And don't forget "American Hot Wax"
______________

"Blackboard Jungle" Vic Morrow is in it along with Bill Haley.

"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (Hey, it's harmless and kinda funny)

"Having a Wild Weekend" with the Dave Clark Five.

There's more...and the schlocky ones are the best!

(The "Beach Party" movies are great time capsules)

Oh, man...

Gotta be:

(1) "Crybaby"

(2) "Grease"

(3) "Rocky Horror"

I think American Hot Wax was such a fine movie. Too bad all the "teenage" stars were in their middle age when performing.

American Graffitti with The Howlin' and Prowlin' Wolfman Jack

A Hard Day's Night-A real piece of rock and roll history.

I also like Play Misty For Me about a California dj (fictional).

Re: Movie Title?

What was that movie about a record collector who worked in a Chicago record store? Music was his life and it trumped woman and everything else. The character had an encyclopedia knowlege of rock and roll. I think it was a late eighties or early nineties movie.

American Graffiti
Eddie and the Cruisers (supposedly he was doing Springsteen 20 years before Springsteen was doing Springsteen..no, I can't imagine "On the Dark Side" coming out in 1962)..a cute movie just the same.
______________

That's "High Fidelity" starring John Cusack and Jack Black, which came out in 2000.
My own personal favorite is "Rock & Roll High School", a wonderful and funny film that features the Ramones. And even though I've never seen "Bunny Lake Is Missing", it has to be hot, too, since I understand the Zombies appear in it! I'll be seeing Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent at the Ohio State Fair this Saturday and absolutely cannot wait.

more flix

I just remembered: "Airheads". A bit silly & stupid but fun to watch.

Some thought that Eddie & the Cruisers was based on Bobby Fuller.

Re: Movie Title?

Thanks. Yes High Fidelity. That was a unique movie, and everyone who reads this board should see it.

Re: more flix

Oh yeah, "Rock & Roll High School" is great bit of stuff!

Would "Roadie" count as a R&R movie?

"Bands make it rock, but roadies make it roll".

There's plenty of rock 'n' roll folks in it.

Hey, I just remembered, "Don't Knock the Rock".
______________

The ones with Eric von Zipper.

Could well be, although in the movie its clear that "Eddie" faked his own death in the final scene (else there couldn't have been a sequel).
______________
