rock station for houston

recently dallas got kegl back after three different format changes all being of a rock en espanol and latin hip hop form. now for what ever reason it seems that we have an overkill of this format in houston as well as classic rock stations. i believe it is time for either clear channel or one of its competitors to come and fill the void of album rock and its other forms. there is no stand out station in houston, i mean all of the stations here in houston are carbon copies of one another and you can switch to any station and hear what i am talking about. its like 94.5 the buzz is bi-polar radio, and the jack is????? as far as classic rock.... well every station is exactly the same. there is a whole market of music that is being left out here, for whatever reason all of these so called marketing geniuses are depriving a market of a "real rock station". :'(

I agree with your post, their are holes in the market that need to be filled, and radio is very bland and boring. Don't get your hopes up, corporate radio has other problems on hand at the momment.

Actually, after being rock KEGL was English language AC ("Sunny") and Mexican oldies ("La Preciosa"). They never did rock en español (nobody in the US ever has on a commercial station) nor did they do Latin Hip Hop.

What format is "this format" that you seem to think there is too much of?

When you say "real rock," are you talking about active/modern rock? Some people would consider alternative or classic rock as "real rock," so I am assuming you mean active rock. Something like 106.1 in Beaumont or 99.5 KISS in San Antonio. They've been around for a long time and even sruvived the awful rap-metal era...you will NEVER hear Limp Bizkit on KISS (thank God). Neither will you hear Fall Out Boy or Good Charolette...stuff I consider to be top 40 stuff.
KISS was kinda like a breath of fresh air in the polluted crap that was on a majority of SA stations. Houston radio may seem "bland" to most of you who have been here for a while, but I think it's so much better than SA radio (as well as TV as there is a lack of cheesy content and crappy movies on FOX and CW on the weekends). If you are indeed referring to active rock, I agree. That would fill the void and complete the variety of houson radio. I do agree, however, that The Buzz is "bi-polar." Their playlist confuses the hell out of me...but then again, that's a CC station, go figure. Need I say more, ect.
I haven't heard KEGL yet, but hopefully it's better than The Edge in Dallas because that was another "alternative" station that I just skipped over due to confusion. Maybe Austin should just broadcast 101X all over Texas.
??? ??? ??? ???

This blog popps out about every 60 days or so. We bitch and moan about Houston Rock Radio (???) and does anything ever change? No.

I've given up on Houston Radio. I've got two words for you guys: I-POD!

Out of sheer curiousity, I started steaming the buzz, and my headache came back. Thanks for that, d**khole!

......GooGoo Dolls!!! Really??? God I hate the Buzz.

rock and roll radio is dead.

sincerely,
rockandrollisdead.

What would it take to bring back real rock in houston? Has radio turned so corporate that we can't cater to listeners anymore? I wish there was a way to really effect change in the houston radio world but it looks like the suits own it all. I'm just glad that they don't wake up one day and decide to flip a station over to yodeling or moose farts

There is. Stop going to megaconcerts, stop frequenting the advertisers, and tell those local advertisers why you will no longer do business with them. Get 200 of your closest friends to do the same. Post bulletins, support alternative media (i.e. Internet, satellite, and podcast radio) and most importantly, teach your children that the best music comes free, online, anytime they want it. Sooner or later, things will change and your voice---or the chirping crickets where your voice used to be, friend listener---will be deafening.
