Rock107 26th Birthday Bash

Hope you all can come out and help us celebrate Thursday night at the Woodlands. I know that from time to time we see some less-than-complimentary comments here about this broadcast group or that one, but forget about that. It's a pretty good party no matter what.

Remember when the Americans and the Germans celebrated Christmas Day together in No-Mans Land in World War I and the next day they were back to shooting at each other? Think of it like that and come on out and have a beer.

This party is the best! First, you have some great
musical headliners of the classic rock genre, my first
was Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band. Then you have
thousands of Rock 107 devotees jammed into one place.
I mean these are fans. In the parking lot, you see
every type of car from a BMW to an old 1986 Celebrity,
each car has one of those 107 bumper stickers plastered
on it somewhere. There is great enthusiasm for the
music, the air staff (I was shocked to see that even the
part timers have their own fan-cheering section when the
jocks are introduced) and for the event itself. It speaks
to the loyalty the Rock 107 audience has to its radio
station. And the beer is always cold and the women are
somewhat hot. Plus, the next day (and I don't know if
they positioned it this way) is Good Friday where you can
repent for whatever crazy stuff you did at the bash.

You see so much garbage posted on this board from day to day. It's great to see someone with as much class as Vepster and although I won't be able to raise my glass with you tonight we have raised more than a few together and I will be there in spirit.
And I know where the nickname "VEPSTER" came from.

Desert?

LOL

By the way pdjames, really this party is your legacy, no? We had the first one when you had an office on 5 if I'm not mistaken.

And let me just say that last night's soiree was a 100 percent homerun! Flawless! Giant crowd, the Fixx was great, the local bands were great, not a single incident requiring security to step in, and the beer was frosty!

Hats off to Mark Hoover, Paul "Thunder" Shaw, Dave "Too Tall" Mehall and everybody else from "the Rock" who made it happen, but mostly thanks to our loyal listeners who turned out in record numbers last night. The ballroom at the Woodlands had a larger population than many small towns in our area and that is not an ounce of exaggeration. I don't have an exact number but last I checked (around 9:30) there were close to 2000 tickets piled up at the door!

Like Rock 107, the success of the birthday bash is a
"constant".
