Rockin' Howie Carr's Cadillac tunes/record collector

Right now Howie's playing a bunch of Cadillac related songs (Gov in news due to taxpayer funded vehicle).
Right on Howie! Just played a snippet of a good one from Stray Cats and one by the immortal
Elvis Hitler. Also, record collector/appraiser
Mighty John (http://www.moneymusic.com ) will be on Monday's show...

Ooh, "Welfare Cadillac". another good one

Crown Victoria isn't posh enough for the man who alledgedly faces a fiscal crisis; that's why is newsworthy. If we're going to have plenty of threads on talk radio I have no problem with Raccoon mentioning something he liked about a show.

It's good to see Governor Patrick under scrutiny. It's only been a month, and he's already abandoned most of his campaign promises. Tough lough for all the liberals who voted for him. Did you really expect anything from him? Some of his hack cronies are already on the state payroll.

Howie's Lexus SUV was part of a contest. If the dealer gave it to him, he would have no hesitation about saying so.

Howie does not work for the government and the car was not paid for by the taxpayers.

Imagine this:
Governor Kerry Healey's $70,000 SUV Paid For by Taxpayers.

How's that? Buy your own car, governor, and make it a "green" one not a gas guzzler.
(For that matter, Romney and Healey declined to take their salaries...)

Thanks. Some good rockin' tunes. AM music baby!

>>should deval be taking the t from milton every day?

Mike Dukakis did (from Brookline)

But you know what, I think I'll see what they're saying about this on Air America Boston. (Switches to
1200)...What's this? Es en espanol! (Tries 1430) More "Rumba". When did this happen! WHY WASN'T
I INFORMED! :)

Keeping this on the radio track before the thread fairy moves it to oblivion...

Did you notice how many times Howie slammed Finnerin this afternoon? Every afternoon?

For Howie this Govenor is a Godsend. He has enough material to keep the radio show going for a year and its only 6 weeks into the 4 year term.

He has 10x the material he did with Governor Romney. It's only been a month and Governor Patrick can't keep his foot out of his own mouth. Remember the 1,000 cops he promised to put on the street? Now it's down to more like 250 according to him. Since he's on with E&B in the weeks to come, we will be hearing a lot more.

Instead of the "72-large" private secretary they just hired for Mrs Patrick, at taxpayer expense, despite the fact that she doesn't work for the state and she has her own secretary already, the Governor's office should hire a reality checker to work for the Governor. He could use it.

pure unbridled racism by a bigot host who has nothing of substance to offer this city/radio market.

It's so unimaginative when liberals pull out the race card for no reason other than to simply cry "racism!" It's even worse when the supposed expression of racism is a huge stretch. I thought they were the artsy types and you'd think they could up with a new schtick.

I suspect however, we'll be hearing these cries anytime a host that Valv or his ilk don't like until the day Deval is driven from office.

But Graham did have some good tunes. Anyone hear the Afroman song he was playing? A Cadillac classic.

I wonder if Entercom Boston has a PhonoLog because HC mentioned something on the air about looking in the "green book" for caddilac songs

Afroman.... wasn't he the guy in those New Orleans pics carying the case of beer thru the flood waters? He's so one hit wonder I'm surprised he hasn't popped up on Barry Scotts show yet.

Well, a snippet of it. I think he got the "30 sec preview" version of it from amazon.com and played that;
didn't seem too impressed. I did send him "One Piece at a Time" and he played it in the 6 pm hour, though.

WMWM has also played a diff. cover version of Brand New Cadillac by a group called Tooba Blooze.

NH Ronin, if you haven't heard RKO's shtick it has gotten tired.

It's less to do with being progressive than looking for something decent to listen to.

Remember, monologues do not make conversation. Even in the least of places, like in here, the scruffiness is more entertaining than any given moment on R-Ko Radio

Give Deval some time in office - the Republican attacks on anything progressive is more stale than their candidates.

varulven...

Maybe the real issue here is a definition of the word: PROGRESSIVE as opposed to the phrase: "GETTING A REACTION?" ::)

Most party members (and we're talking democrats, republicans, independents, greens, etc.) are more than likely to 'say anything'---in order to get a reaction! :p

And this type of broadcasting doesn't necessarily make any talk radio format GOOD or even interesting!!!

By the way the main point of my post is that was was interesting to hear some cool music, even if just in snippets, on AM radio. Lightnin' Hopkins, Bo Diddley, Elvis Hitler, the Clash! All on 'RKO. Wonder if they'll
follow the lead of WABeatleC in NYC which runs oldies on Sat nights? (tho that could be a reaction to
the loss of oldies on WCBS-FM).

>>77WABC, the station that invented Oldies Radio, is bringing it back on Saturday nights. WABC airs "Saturday Night Oldies" with Mark Simone from 6-10pm, as we turn back the hands of time. Listen to the hit songs, the old jingles and sound clips that made WABC the most listened to radio station in the world!><

Maybe once a week, some cool tunes? How about, even, Dr. Demento? Run him at 6 or 7 on Sundays maybe.

btw it was kind of cool when the Tai-ster did his weeknight show on 'RKO. Some local musicians
(attn Varulven!) and comedians were interviewed and maybe performed as well. I think even Feinburg
had some live music on his old Taste of Boston show

raccoonradio...

Whether you know it or not, you brought up the major problem with most radio stations today.....which is....(drum roll):

the lack of desire on the part of a program director to break format in order to program something slightly different from an established format!

Even if a PD decides to 'experiment' with a slightly different form of programming (like your example of Dr. Demento) in a non peak radio hour---most stations forget about promoting it!

Which means the change is 'already lost' before it has had the chance to get heard by a listener or two! ::)

What the hell does this have to do with your pathetic use of the race card?
