ROCK's New Boss

COX RADIO announced the appointment of DON DAVIS as PD of WFYV (ROCK 105)/JACKSONVILLE. DON joins from the PD position at KHYT (ROCK 107.5)/TUCSON.

"We conducted a very focused search for the right PD at ROCK 105," said VP/GM DAVID ISREAL. "DON’s extensive experience and strong track record with heritage rock station brands made him the ideal candidate for the position. We look forward to welcoming DON to the COX RADIO family. His programming expertise will benefit both our listeners and advertisers."

Puh-leeze, they have no ratings, this "heritage" rock station is dying a slow death. You must work for them to know so much about a new Program Manager. They play the same 100 classic rock songs OVER AND OVER....Very bland and boring station. By the way, if your frequency was 104.5, why the heck do you still call it Rock 105? Sure there is a Rock 104 down the road in Gainesville, but at least they reference their digital moniker of 103.7.....

My apologies, didn't mean to rock the boat. Your insight is great, any new changes in music direction or more variety planned? I used to enjoy the weekend countdowns, are those coming back? At least then you can hear some different tunes. Another question, is the voice over guy the same for WFYV as it is for The HOG 95.7 in Daytona?

Also, how is the new morning show doing in the ratings? Didn't they come from West Palm Beach and do they like North Florida? Got big shoes to fill, wish them luck.

Not sure about the countdown shows...Im sure the new PD will bring his own wrinkles...he will be in town after Thanksgiving so we will see...His station in Tucson is playing newer music than ROCK so maybe we can look forward to a 'freshing' up of the catalog......As far as ratings here they have stablelized after the free fall following Lex and Terry leaving...so I really think MGD will start growing in the next few book...we have a great new Promotions Director too so look for some good things after t he first of the year

Wow, they couldn't be better. The staff is great and I love working with the new Music Director and Ass. Program Dir. They are remarkable men!!!!! Life is great at Cox Radio. Sorry to see the Zoo leaving, will miss them very much.
