Rocky Mount's 105.3 to WCPS's Owner

The FCC reported the sale this past week of HIS Radio’s Rocky Mount translator to Johnson Broadcast Ventures, owner of daytimer WCPS Tarboro.

So we may be hearing WCPS in FM Stereo on 105.3 soon!

That’s good news for an owner that prides himself on being LIVE and LOCAL while targeting the older African-American market.

The power output of 105.3 pretty much just covers the city of Rocky Mount so I don't see it being a real player in the market. Besides we don't need another African-American station in this market. I don't think a power increase is there either since there is at one time a station in Norfolk at the same frequency. I barely can pick it up at times. I suspect HIS radio couldn't afford to keep up the translator site and the one they have in Roanoke Rapids (I think that's where the main station is located). Just my thoughts.

According to www.recnet.com, 105.3 moved to 105.7 awhile back(W289BL), i don't understand why the owners of WCPS want a FM translator on that frequency, WRSF in Columbia will probably wipe out the frequency most early mornings, they might consider shopping for another position, if one is available.
