Rod Fritz gone agan from WBZ (AM)?

AFAIK. there never was any announcement that Rod had been formally appointed to fill 'BZ's AM-drive co-anchor position after golden-voiced Ed Walsh retired late last year. Nevertheless, format announcement or no, on the day after Walsh's departure, Rod slid from his fill-in position into the AM-drive position on at least a temporary basis. However, as of this week, Rod appears to be gone again and if anyone has made any comment about it over the air, I've missed it. This morning's hosts were Lori Kirby and Deb Lawlor (either or both of whose names I may have misspelled). Both of these women have been at WBZ for a long time and both have voices that are familiar and comfortable to the WBZ audience. Still, I find it a little bit disconcerting not to be able to figure out whether we are in the next 20-minute segment of the format wheel based on whether the anchor is male or female.

Anyone know what is going on? Has WBZ PD Peter Casey made any announcement on a permanent new hire? Were Rod and CBS unable to agree on the terms of a contract?

Damn! I didn't notice the typo in the headline until after I had posted the message. The message-board software doesn't let you correct headlines after messages have been posted. I do know how to spell "again."

I think Rod just has some well-deserved time off. He's not officially the morning guy yet, so they wouldn't say Laurie Kirby filling in for Rod Fritz.
