Rod Fritz is NOT the new BZ morning guy

I don't remember him?
Just thinking this morning that It had gone too long so you had to know something was in the works.

I don't really know who the new guy is, but based on my experience working with and later for Rod he cannot possibly be half the news man Rod is today.

He the guy on SiriusXm?

Don't recall any Boston connection.

I don't know him at all, except from having spoken once or twice on the phone in past years. But I've been listening to Rod since his days in Philly. I think Gerald Ford was president; that's a ways back. Tough break - I was hoping they'd give him the LaPierre Chair.

Joe does/did the mid-morning show on SiriusXM's POTUS channel.

It is a tough break for Rod, though is anyone sure that he wanted the permanent gig? He's a good, solid news man.

It looks as though 'BZ may be going with someone they can make a long-term investment in, a la Gary LaPierre. If his Emerson grad year is any indication, Mathieu is only 36 or 37.

I stand to be corrected, but I think Joe Mathieu got his start in radio at WINY in Putnam, CT.

I know Rod fairly well but haven't seen him to ask if he wanted the morning gig. But I assume he did. I am not sure if he is actually full time at BZ. I know when he started he was only part time. He could be full time now.

BZ has never been know to pay big salaries. When I worked there back in the early 80's Dave Maynard often complained how little he was making compared to the other morning men. I realize that was Westinghouse but I assume not much has changed under CBS.

If Rod got the morning gig I am sure he would have gotten a boost in pay.

On a side note, the reports about Joe Morgan retiring never mentioned that he actually worked for Metro Networks not BZ. I was told last night that Metro plans to continue to use Mike King and Kevin Brennan in the copter. One of the issues is the copter Metro uses has a very small seat and a large person couldn't fit in the seat.

I haven't found a plane or helicopter yet that has a seat for someone what is large in any way shape or form.

You should see me trying to shoehorn myself into a Piper Warrior II, it isn't a pretty picture.
