Rodd Wayne: KOOI's loss, KTYL's gain.

Having left and come back more times than I can remember; Rodd Wayne has left KOOI once again. I think this makes his third departure in about 12 or 13 years. This time he popped up on another station in the SAME market. Hard to imagine Rodd away from Sunny 106.5 fm after all these years. He may have been the only original voice left on KOOI, but he sounds PHENOMENAL on KTYL Mix 93.1 fm. I think it was just what Mix needed. Steal away a very recognizable name and voice to bring in new listeners and actually entertain the established listeners. Smart. If they are really smart, they will drop Seacrest and move Rodd back to afternoons where he belongs. He is very friendly, comfortable and entertaining to listen to.
I worked with Rodd in the past and he is a class act and too damn naive about his talents, if you ask me. Good for you Roddmeister. I have always enjoyed following you on the air from Dallas to New York to Tyler/Longview and I will continue to do so. I hope you read this or someone passes it on to you, but you deserve the best my friend and only the best. Good choice old chum.

Well the good news about all of this is that these decisions both personal and proffessional were made by Rodd. He was not asked to leave and from what I understand they wanted him to stay. However in life sometimes we all need a change for whatever the reason. I can remember going through one of the worst times in my life and Rodd was one of the people that I worked with on a daily bases that helped me come out on the other side of it. Rodd is a class act, a super talent and an incredible human being with a heart as big as Texas. That said please keep in mind Rodd is human and he just like anyone else has to do what's right for Rodd. I wish you all the luck in the world and there is no doubt in my mind you will prosper on KTYL one of the most listened to and respected stations in all of East Texas. Not to mention the guy does a damn good Bill Clinton!

I'm not saying this figured into Rodd's decision, but if it were me I'd question the motives of the management of KOOI and whether I'd want to be associated with them. Really now, John Tesh in the morning, for five boring hours?

Wow, who would have thought the old Clear Channel stations would actually be looking for LOCAL talent. First Amy Austin on KNUE and now Rodd on KTYL. I say good job to the management at GAP. What a difference a couple of years can make.

Sadly, KOOI is merely a shell of its former self. Is Abcess.1 now training its "killer" sights on 106.5 and shifting its death grip away from KYKX?

I knew KOOI had quit caring when they put John Tesh on in the morning. Boneheads! When will TPTB understand that we want to feel connected in the morning. It's like being woken up by a good friend. Good music, good conversation. LOCAL people please. Upbeat music, humor, news-both worldly and local, and some pop culture thrown in. I don't want to start the day off by someone telling me how unhealthy I am.

Roddster has always been a class act who CARES about his listeners. I honestly feel like I have a good friend driving me home. And his personality is hilarious. This is why I follow him from station to station.

The one thing I regret is that he's on at night. Do we really need to hear Seacrest in the afternoons?

From now on, I have Mix 93.1 as my only preset.
