Just picked up a new mic called the Podcaster by Rode. It doesn't sound bad.
Anyone heard of this one yet. It's pretty cool, plugs into your PC via USB.
Would like to hear if anyone has any opinions about it's performance...
The first thing I noticed was that it has very low gain.
I had to normalize my test recording to get the correct volume, but it sounded
pretty clean and had a very respectable dynamic range. Think I'll keep it...
I've read about the Samson, and the reviews are good, but saw this one first...
MXL now makes a USB mic that (IMHO) blows the other USB mics away..Lot's of gain, and it needs very little tweaking to sound great..and quiet..Couple of hundred bucks

MXL, isn't that Marshall? I have a couple of inexpensive mics from them and while no great shakes they do sound pretty good, very warm.
Wish I had seen one of their USB mic's before I got the Rode. Still the Rode isn't bad, but it's more a curiosity. I currently use a Shure SM5B and
plan to add a Sennheiser MKH 416 to my equipment when I'm able to. I used a 416 last year at a VO session and it sounded quite nice.
