Let us consider for a moment what real professionalism is. We only need to look at the many examples we see in major markets. Professionalism is two fold...the talent to do a superb job and the ability to work within the staff. In the majors, although there can be exceptions, most guys have the confidence to know they are where they are because they are pro's. I don't mean some prima dona attitude, but a calm self accepted confidence they know what they are doing but they are still flexible to learn more and of course accept direction. These guys know they don't need to play political office games, stab people in the back or spread all types of rumors or BS to get ahead. They know who they are and don't need to stoop to such childish games. Altoona isn't by any stretch of the imagination a major market but there are people who share that major market professionalism with the two fold abilities I've outlined above. Everybody should know in Altoona one of those guys and maybe the only guy is Dick Diandrea. As has been said once before he is without any doubt the BEST radio guy to have ever been on the air in central Pa. On the other hand, there are people in small markets who may have some level of passable talent, good enough for the market but increasingly in small markets you find a void, all to often, of talent combined with the other qualities which are needed and which I defined above. Now Fryman, since you don't know who I am there is the very real possibility you don't know my experiences either. In general, you seem to be a pretty level headed guy who knows a bit about our profession, at least at the Altoona level. Not only that, you've been described as a knowledgable guy on some of the surrounding markets, which I think we both have knowledge in. However back to my statement, you don't know me, where I've been, my experiences. I feel rather confident you and I would agree on things, if only you did know!
