OK, so I am feeling nostalgic again. If you have this one burried in a shoebox (1999 release), then it is time to pull it out. With the flip of WQJZ, I decided to mourn and reminesce a bit and pull up some old Jones Radio Network airchecks (uploaded by our friend spiritof67). On one from KZSP in January 2000, I heard the title cut from Roger Smith's "Both Sides." WOW, what a tune! Forgot what a terrific CD this was. Admittedly, I have always been a big Roger Smith fan, so I am a little biased. Most of you will be familiar with "Off The Hook," which got plenty of airplay back in the day. But there are other great tunes on this CD, to include the aforementioned title cut, "Come With The Deal," and "Flevoland." I know we are often quick to stereotype and dismiss a lot of music in the "Smooth Jazz" era (post 1995), but this is one that largely went against the trend. Sure, there are a couple cover tunes, but the others make up for it. Dust this one off and check it out!
