Rogers (City tv Toronto) & CTV (CP24) doing their own

City tv Toronto is now starting City news at 5PM.
This is the first to not be repeated or in simulcast with CP24

CP24 is doing their own live at five, but it's really awful.

George Logiganis (SP?) is all ums and ahs in his news delivery and...it's only 15 minutes long!

Then we have City tv, which is good, but seems to be something that may as well be a rebroadcast at 6!

There are those slight differences (ie silverman helps airs only on City news@6)

Here's a link to a possible reason for the decision to start at 5:

The trend in the United States seems to be to be moving evening newscasts to 7 PM. WNBC New York has news from 6-6:30, NBC News at 6:30, and then more local news at 7. I think WKYC in Cleveland has a similar setup. People are coming home from work later and would prefer to get news a bit later, but not in prime time. A station like CITY that doesn't have much in the way of ratings draws could afford to do local news at 7 instead of 5.

Rogers still owns 20% of CP24, and I'm missing some information here.
It may be that ratings for reruns of friends is doing better than CP24's 7pm rebroadcast of the 6pm CityNews@6.

With 20% ownership of CP24 Rogers may believe it's more profitable to refrain from moving citynews to Seven as that may take too much attention away from CP24.

Pulse 24 Partnership canceled the application by CTV Limited to the CRTC to transfer the 20%.

CTVglobemedia owns 100% of CP24.
To be specific, CP24 is owned by Pulse 24 Partnership, 99.9% of which is owned by CTV Limited (the renamed CHUM Limited) and 0.01% owned by a numbered company, both of which are fully owned by CTVglobemedia.

My mistake then. I thought Rogers was going to maintain 20% ownership to justify the Citynews repeaters and the Breakfast TV simulcast.

Here's all I find:

Even though...

"Since the acquisition of CHUM Limited by CTVglobemedia, CTV Newsnet and CP24 have technically been under the same ownership since June 2007, CTV and Rogers have announced that CP24 and Citytv Toronto will continue to share news resources between the two stations until futher notice. Following a three-year transition period, Citytv Toronto will move from the CHUM-City Building to the Olympic Spirit building at 35 Dundas Street East."

...I also wonder why the rewind is still airing CityPulse news rather than airing CFTO news...unless the CFTO 80's news classics went into bulk erase...?
(as did many CTV shows from the 80's.)

They did show newscast footage complete with L3s from circa 1984 when Pat Marsden died. Therefore, there's got to be at least some out there...
