I can not think of a better way to piss off everyone on the staff. The closest to this I ever saw was a company that decided to charge staff to park in their own private parking lot (the station was not near a bus or a train route, so you essentially had to drive). In that case, which was not a radio station, an employee got hold of the coin mechanism from a gumball machine and replaced the doorknob to the manager´s office with it.

The tower sites involved don't have significant residential value. The Vancouver stations broadcast from land that is part of a provincial agricultural reserve set-aside where development is highly limited. The Calgary stations had two different transmitter sites, which were both a bit out there in their own ways.

Thank-you. This means that, if desired, some other company out there can put some sort of AM radio station on the air (with CRTC permission)
HOWEVER
the remaining question is, what about the condition of those AM towers? Are they due for full replacement? I gather they may be pretty old with several "State of good repair" refurbishments already.
IF one were to launch a brand new AM radio station they just might have to start from scratch with all new AM towers, which don't come cheap...Rogers may have simply given up because, above and beyond a future they saw, there's that cost of maintaining the towers...

This happened at our company. However, it became a perk for executives. So VPs and above still got free parking.

The last company I worked for made us pay half the cost of a yearly city parking pass because the parking garage was owned by the city. I always thought the company should pay it all. The only time they did was the day I had my job interview with them.
