I was watching CMT Pure Country tonight and the music video for Rollin' in the Deep aired. I don't think this would be considered a country song would it?
I actually hear some country in it. At it's core it has a folk sound. It's one of those rare songs that I could see fitting in on every format from country to hip hop if given a chance.
That being said, even if a more country version of this song exists (I read somewhere that it does) I don't think country radio would play it. Adele hasn't made an effort (and carrer wise doesn't need) to market herself in Nashville the way Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker did.
Plus when was the last time a British pop singer had a country hit? Was it Tom Jones in the 70s?
Adele=not country. Listen to her album. No fiddle, slide guitars or twang. Folk isn't country. It's a genre on its own, otherwise we'd be playing Bob Dylan on country radio.
