Rolling Stone & the Beatles

Don't usually start 'em...but maybe I can slow one down..

All the news recently from Rolling Stone (disclaimer) on the Beatles (HOT material for the air folks??) seems intended for some publicity.

Opinion: What does it matter? They were, they are, they shall be.

Please join me in leaving a Beatles thread alone!! If there are no replies here...it won't hurt my feelings!!

That's all

HDBG

Ooooo, reverse psychology. Nice trick, HDBG. Only two of the greatest bands to grace the airwaves on AM and FM in both Top 40 (CHR) and AOR over forty years. Even got some play on AC, with "Michelle" and "As Tears Go By." An All Beatles and Stones format could run as long as it had legs, don't you think?

I believe that HDBG was referring to the Rolling Stone Magazine list of the Top 100 Beatles Songs, which selected "A Day In the Life" as their #1 Beatles song. That's interesting, considering that their "Top 500 Songs of All Time" listed "Hey Jude" at #8, "Yesterday" at #13, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at #16, and "Let It Be" at #20. "In My Life" comes in at #23, and "A Day In the Life" finally shows up at #26. So, it's the 6th best Beatles song according to Rolling Stone's own list.

Confusing, huh? Almost makes you want to ignore Rolling Stone magazine lists...

The musicradio77.com website, the tribute site to WABC, polls readers every year, getting thousands of votes from all over the world. Looking at the last several years of surveys, the Beatles' Hey Jude always finishes #1 and the Stones' Satisfaction nearly always finishes #2. The WCBS-FM listener poll in the NYC market usually comes out the same.

Personally I always vote for the Stones above all the others in the online poll...but YMMV...

If I'm still leading at the end of Sunday, do I get a green jacket?
