Rome to XM????

Some of his listeners were saying that they would be joining him on Satelite. Why would he leave regular radio for that? That would be a huge mistake he would lose like 75 percent of his listeners. Is he leaving Premiere??

I'm sure he'll follow the money, and who can blame him? My complaint is that it has become an issue on the show itself, and I cannot stand the endless parade of clones begging, "Please don't go to satellite, Romey." That makes for horrible radio.

And one thing to remember is that Clear Channel has a stake in both XM and Premiere. Would it be corporate cannibalism if CC allowed Rome to jump to XM? And is Sirius interested in Rome?

Do you think Rome would change much on satellite? I kind of feel like he would do essentially the same show maybe a little looser on language but not much. I'd be more curious in hearing someone like Petros Papadakis on satellite more then Jim Rome. By the way if you look at Tom Hoffarth's column in today's LA daily news it looks like he's hinting at upcoming changes at SNR and at flagship 1540 in Los Angeles. Is Petros about to be launched nationally??

> Are you serious about Petros? He has never showed up in one ratings book throughout his entire career. He works at a station that gets an overall ZERO share while only hosting a two hour show. He would never work nationally because no one wants to hear about his Dad's restaurant or Felix chevorlet.

James Brown announced today he's leaving SNR. And a couple of weeks ago, when Petros did a 3 hour show one day while Fred Roggin was at the Olympics, he hinted that we should get used to hearing him on the radio more than just 2 hours a day. And by the way, I wonder what ticked off Fred Roggin so much that he tried to quit last week (as he disclosed on the air), but 1540 forced him to honor his contract....anyone know??

Hosting "Pros vs. Joes" and doing color commentary with Barry Tompkins on the FSN Pac-10 Game of the Week isn't national work? Not too shabby for a guy in his late 20's. You are seriously delusional if you don't think Petros is on the fast track to national media prominence.

The more important question is:

Who still listens to Rome?

...Unabubbas wants to know who listens to Rome. Epic. Now I will read emails about how great of a take it is until commercial. That's great. Dude, got off his blast. errrrrr! Arse! Epic...

I doubt he'll leave terrestrial radio completely. If he does jump to satellite, I think the show will simulcast on both satellite and terrestrial. Plus, if Rome goes to satellite, will he have his own channel? I can only see that happening if filled with replays of that day's and past shows, like Howard 101 on Sirius. <P ID="signature">______________

Being known as a clown on TV and radio will only take him so far. "Pros vs. Joes", are you joking? He is a USC/So Cal radio guy. That will not fly in any top 20 markets outside of LA where sports radio doesn't amount for much.
Scream, you seem desperate now that you realize that SNR is sinking like a rock in the ocean!

It will be interesting to see what kind of staying power he has. I think even you realdeal have to admit he may cause a stir at first because of how different his show is and if it's his first exposure to a wider audience. I'm more curious to see where Petros' appeal is say 12-18 months after launching nationally. I'm really not sure how he will be received outside of SoCal. But, I do think if Rome ever leaves for satellite, sporting news should consider making a push for Petros in that timeslot.

So I guess Ferrall is a genius with his incessant "shake-it-ooooop's," while Petros is just a clown, huh? Can you be objective for once in your pathetic life, you shill, instead of deifying all FSR hosts and belittling all non-FSR hosts? If Petros were an FSR guy, you and I both know you would be singing his praises 24-7.

The beauty of Petros is that he has become a damned good football analyst, and his Pac-10 GOW color commentary and FSN studio work add another dimension to his off-the-wall radio persona. You can't simply dismiss him as a clown.

> I'm the guy that has proved that you know nothing. Ferrell worked for Westwood One and had one of the largest syndications in the history of sports radio. He was King of New York and LA at the same time, while Petros gets a ZERO share on 1540. Don't ever compare the legend of Scott Ferrell to a no name, two hour sports talk hack. You have finally lost your mind. Are you next going to compare Fred Roggin's show to Dan Patrick? Be quiet and stop embaressing yourself.

'embaressing'!?

Yeah right.
