God bless them both.

I went to see Ron Allen and his wife Mary Ann last night...So sad. Ron recognized me and he gave me that Ronzzi smile...His wife is going through a series of tests and is trying her best to get through this. I talked to his daughter Lori this afternoon and Ron is resting very comfortably. thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Tom

Very sorry to learn about Ron, I had the honor of working with him for a couple of years in the early 80's. Just when did Ron start the Sportsline show? I seem to remember it was on sometime in the 70's?

It must have been in the mid 70's I was working in D.C. at the time.

I do believe Sportsline began as a late Sunday night alone show, and it was likely late 60s or early 70s latest. Was it recorded? I say that's quite possible.

Tom --

Very awesome that you would take the time to post. Prayers are with you and your wife, as well, sir.

Tom:

Thank you for letting us know. RIP Ron, you were one of the best. We'll miss you.

I worked with WARM part time in the mid 1960's and ran the amp systems for several of the DJs at the record hops. Always had fun with Ron's hops and have many good, and funny, memories of those days.. One of my favorite stories of Ron was at a record hop at Freeland MMI when the song Big Bad John was up on the top 40 sheet.. Kids could request songs from the DJs and a girl ask if Ron would play Big Bad John for her boyfriend.. As Ron was Cueing the 45 he said it was for, naming the girl, boyfriend.. He the wanted to acknowledge the boyfriend and said "Where's the John".. A voice from the back of the auditorium shouted
"Down the hall. third door on the right". Always a lot of fun..
