Ron Chapman - The Production Voice Of Platinum

I've been listening to Platinum and as time goes on, the production is picking up with more spots. I've noticed that Ron Chapman is doing production in addition to promos. When they went on the air, I thought he was there for "start up", but is he, in fact, the full-time production and promo VOICE of 96.7?

Along with a kind of music mix of "old" KVIL, Ron sure makes that station sound wonderful!!

Yup. It sounds like the 'old' Menories 96.7 and the older KVIL. I'm tiring of the 'call-ins' saying "I'm so-o-o excited to hear Gail Lightfoot . . .". That's about as exciting as watching my goldfish. The music . . . the same tunes about the same time every day is getting monotonous. Too much Streisand and Diamond. Granted, they had hits, but not to warrant playing them over and over and over when so many others merit a play once in a while. Given the amount of ads, I'll give 'em 6-months, tops. Then Ron can retire . . . again.

Chapman is the grandfather of this type of non-offensive, bland radio for office environments. My office had KVIL on the communal radio back in 1984 until I lead a revolt and we could switch to All Things Considered at 3 pm.

When is 96.7 going to launch a full website?

I'm sure that's not a high priority. Old school radio guys only care about sweepers, liner cards, hitting the posts, stop sets, and clocks. Isn't this guy supposed to be RETIRED?

Never underestimate the pure enjoyment Ron Chapman has hearing HIS voice. Just ask him :D

Is it the same enjoyment he got from calling his jocks on the hotline and reaming them for not hitting the post?

Gosh - why so much negativity?

Because it is an abysmal station. I have never cared for Chapman personally and the station is terribly boring.

This from the guy who likes smooth jazz. ;D

Noticed, too, that their station ID has changed (no, not their call sign, just the voice doing the ID). They've filtered out the low end, so it sounds like just about every other ID on the air these days.

Creative - not.
