Ron Childers in for retiring Dave Brown at WMC

Dave Brown is retiring from Memphis NBC affiliate WMC on August 31.

The station also announced Ron Childers will take his place the day after Brown leaves.

“Three years ago, I met with our management team and told them that I was looking at retirement in the near future,” said Brown. “With their full support, we developed a plan that we hoped would allow a smooth transition. That plan moved into the next phase one year ago when I requested a much-reduced schedule. They agreed and we began the transition in which Ron Childers would take over the main weather responsibilities.”

Brown has worked at WMC for 38 of his 53 years in broadcasting. He’ll be named chief meteorologist emeritus and will host some specials and take part in special events.

I only know who Dave Brown is due to his heavy involvement with pro wrestling at the WMC-TV studio all these years (I'm in Connecticut). With that said, I hope he enjoys his retirement!
