Ron Grant's Passing....

I just read the news that Ron Grant, a very talented guy, a very nice guy... has passed away. I worked with Ronnie G. for 8 years and learned a lot from him when it came to production. I simply don't know what to say about this. I am fully aware that he suffered from diabetes... but it doesn't make it any easier.

He was a very unique human being and will be missed.
 
I had no knowledge of Ron, yet I mourn his passing as yet another of a great generation of radio people. I have to ask where the next will come from?
 
Ron is a great man with whom I worked with at the old FM99/Lubbock in the early 90's, and for a brief moment at Oldies 103/Austin. He had a passion for radio which will be missed. He passed too young, and had much more to give.

God bless him and may he rest in peace.
 
He is also the voice of KCBD. Many of my co-workers were great friends with him. Sounds like a great guy that will be missed. I wish I could have had the chance to meet him. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

OMG, I'm in total shock! What happened? What fun times we had back in 87 at KKIK, in which I'll never forget. RIP Ron. You will be missed...........................

OMG!!!! I just found this out, like just now! :mad:

Ron Grant, aka BVG (BigVoiceGuy).
I knew him semi personally, we talked on the phone many times.
He helped me get back into radio, however briefly. This is very upsetting.

I wish I could have been able to meet him in person. I have been on this board for awhile now. Way before I started working in TV. Way before I knew anything about radio/tv I have had many discussions with Ron (and all of you guys) on here. I felt like I learned a lot from him on this message board.
 
I had the pleasure of working with Ron back in the mid '90s at KRLB 99.5. I can honestly say that my brief time in radio (under Ron's direction) no doubt changed me for the better. I kept in touch with Ron occasionally though the years and we'd always pick up right where we left off. Ron was highly intelligent, loved West Texas, and had a one of a kind personality. He will be missed. Rest In Peace.
