Ron Kilgore

LARadio.com is reporting that Ron Kilgore, formerly of KFWB and KNX, died yesterday (November 3) at the age of 71. According to a Facebook post by his friend Larry Rice: "post op complications suspected. He went in for surgery Monday for a heart flutter. He posted that it all went well Tuesday. Carol posted he passed away this morning."

Kilgore worked at KFWB from 1996-2002 and KNX from 2005-2020. Before coming to the Southland, Kilgore was for five years the news director at KFYI-AM in Phoenix, and was a news director at Bakersfield TV station KBAK. He also was an anchor and reporter for NBC Radio News and Mutual Radio in Washington, D.C. He got his start in radio at KKAR-AM, Pomona.

We have lost another great voice...may he rest in peace.
 
Not only did he have a great radio voice he was a great news person as well as a great person.. He hired the first females on Bakersfield TV. He was married to his wife Carol for 46 years.
