RON MEDEIROS GONE FROM FUN 107?

Scott Reiniche on nites so middays isn't split in two anymore. I checked and Medeiros is off the website.

"Take that, Providence!"

Is a weekend shift and holiday fill-ins at WAAF really an upgrade from doing weeknights at FUN 107? Probably a slight bump down in pay, not to mention much less personal appearances. I'm sure its a huge upgrade in peace of mind though.

Didn't i hear scott on around noon today? Website says he is doing 12-2 and nights....I am willing to bet one or the other is tracked

If you wanna work rock radio it's an upgrade. If your head is really into CHR it may not be. Either way at least he's still on the air and the WAAF website says he has his own DJ business anyway. The problem is WAAF or WFHN the future still is bleak. More people need to say F-U to radio and just do it for the fun..that is if it is fun. Everybody but the morning people are commodities.

I think you mean luxuries.

The story on the front page news of radio-info says he was the victim of a budget cut at Citadel in Fairhaven so those reported cuts are inching closer to Providence and I have a feeling we'll hear about them on The Trail next month as some people are reporting. They happened in Worcester too. Funny but if you check out the people on the Fun 107 site a good many of their full and part timers are people who left the station then came back. I'd like to say if things improve the situations at various stations will turn around but I don't think things will improve and when they finally do stations will be too used to operating even more cheaply to revert back to the way things were. I agree that the future in radio for all but branded morning people isn't good. It's going to be nothing but scrounging for jobs then just settling for part time work permanently.

I hate to see anyone get fired from budget cuts. I even hate it more when good people get cut and are looking for work again. Good Luck Ron

Wish you the best!

Pretty sure I heard Ron doing traffic this AM on Ch 10

That seems to be the new thing when there are no jobs around. The whole concept of traffic on TV escapes me. I know everybody has to do it but if you're watching TV you're not in traffic and if you're about to leave the house you'll hear it in the car anyway.

It markets to the paranoid spouse sitting at home not believing the other that the traffic is a nightmare.

Traffic on TV isn't even about the traffic. It's entertainment. Everyone loves to hear about 5 cars accidents and if we can see it live on a traffic camera, even better! It's living room rubber necking!

My friend at 10 told me Ron was just filling in doing traffic for them, but at least he's still broadcasting. Good for him.
