Ron Parker went out a winner. I bet Bob Neil and his cast of idiots at Cox are scrambling like keystone cops.

The Ching Chang Man has his hands full now. HaHaHaHa :D

Is KLDE hiring? I know of a guy working 2-7 at the competition that's probably going to need a job after the first of the year. ;D

I cant believe the moderators allowed this 1st post. Amazing how sensitivity only applies to some groups of people. I know Johnny Chiang and he has a good sense of humor in the hall and on the street. But this was not appropriate. Disagree with policies, diss people's character if you must...I dont even mind if someone comes here and criticizes my work, which no one so far has, but, without beating you over the head for this, I wouldve seeked a higher road.

Ron Parker is a fine program director, who runs a good ship, demands and gets quality from his jocks, and knows the business in and out. A while back someone made a personal comment about Ron which said more about the poster than it did about him. Seek a higher road.

Everyone who follows radio-info should know by now that tookiebird IS Ron Parker blowing his horn and stroking his ego. Also anyone who knows how Cox works realizes that Bob Neil calls all the shots and the programmers are simply his puppets, so no Ron the slight increase in ratings was not because of you, you were simply a puppet doing what the suits said to do. In reality K-Hits will never be a real winner because of its limited audience and the next program director will be another puppet in the mix. I feel sorry for real talented people that are stuck in this kind of situation but who do it because they need a job. It's too bad that radio is not what it used to be when talented program directors were given the right to do their job without interference. Although I have not worked directly in radio for years now, back in the day when I did, the great program directors were the ones who really set the pace for great formats. I miss those days.

You mean like Bob Hamilton that used to be PD at KSFO/KYA-FM San Francisco......San Jose..? The man was very good at what he did! And still is too I hear!

I'm not sure what your personal business is with Parker. If memory serves, I think he dissed you at some appearance, or maybe he didnt like your aircheck, but thats between you. Personal stuff aside, I think it takes considerable talent to execute a strategy sucessfully, which he did, while interjecting your own influences, and keeping the live/local/interactive feel, which KHITS does probably the most among the Cox stations. Parker's a good PD, new radio or old radio.

I appreciate Houston radio history and its great personalities as much as anyone here. I love the old guys, and if I were the Supreme Dictator of All, some things would be different. But as someone still working, I can sit around and moan about "state of radio today," or I can get up and feed my family.

And actually, its still a fun job. Today's radio is easy. You put your ego aside, and realize that the radio station is not your personal lounge act, but rather a multi-million dollar business, for which you are the voice of the finished product.
For the "talented," this should be a slam dunk. Instead of clowns and porn actress-sound-alikes, you find people who can creatively SELL the STATION.

Again, I like the Old Radio too, but dont assume the people working today are somehow less than "talented." That just sounds like bitterness.
