Ron Parker Has Left The Building

As of early this morning, Ron Parker is no longer in the employ of Cox Radio. Insiders say that it was not his decision to part ways. Could Paul Christy be next in line for that job? Let's hope so!

I thought his changes on the station were good and working so what hepped that made them want to replace him?

It doesn't make sense to get rid of Ron Parker, unless a significant change is coming to KLDE. In that case, I would expect Mr. Christy to leave as well. After all, their morning personalities are a younger generation than Mr. Parker and Mr. Christy.

I hope that Paul stays, as I like the changes they have made to KLDE. If I were Cox, I'd be cleaning house over at Pointless.

Wow from PD, and host of the AM drive only a short time ago, to unemployed! Can't understand this decision at all. I'm sure Ron will have little trouble landing on the Houston dial somewhere else. Pat Fant is wanting to target older demos at KRBE, Ron. Maybe it's time to tell Carson and Lauren to hit the road!

Personally, I'm glad Parker is gone. And I hope he doesn't stay in Houston. I met him at KLDE functions and thought he was full of himself. I don't like the changes that have recently occured, so I've switched to the first love of my music - country. But where's Jackie of the morning show? I caught Ed Chandler on KILT but don't think he's full time - I hear him all over the place. He sounds a lot better on country than Oldies. I hope that he stays at KILT.

Interesting opinion of Ron. In the times I have spoken with him I found him kind, well spoken, and passionate about his trade. Tremendously dedicated to giving 100% of himself to his station and listeners. I agree with you on the subject of Ed Chandler. I like him better on KILT, myself. He seems to be more comfortable with his delivery than when he was on KLDE with Jackie.

Ron Parker loved radio and gave his all into KLDE.

The man has done many things....a man with his talent will land on his feet soon somewhere...

Ron Parker was my competitor while I was in Phoenix, and as tough as there was..then after I was bounced from my first PD gig at KZHT/Salt Lake, I heard from him, and he offered me the chance to come back, as he became the PD of the station I had left. i came back as nights and his right hand man, and he turned out to be the best PD I've ever had in the biz, and some of the things he taught are what I use now successfully.

I'd like to think someone with his talent lands fast on his feet, and if I were in charge, I'd snap him up.

Ron Parker has great passion for radio--the art, and works night and day.

Some people misread his mannerisms--actually, he is gruff, but loveable. And you can argue with him, and even win sometimes--"ok, we'll try it, but be sure you...." I've seen him exercise great patience w/ guys no one else would have had time for, while at the same time demanding, and getting, a tight standard on every daypart.

Ron takes care of his jocks. Lets just say he's the 1st one you call when you're in some kind of trouble at 3am.

Ron Parker made me a vastly better jock. Theres no comparison between before and after he tweaked my sound, formatics, delivery, content, appearance, you name it. My kids will eat better thanks to Ron.
