RONIE ALEXANDER GONE FROM ROCK 92

Apparently Friday was her last day...no reason given

It's been said that DBC is taking R92 in a different direction. The way they've been letting people go, paring down, sounds like they're gettin' "lean & mean" for a sale. Just speculation at this point.

What direction? It's already a "classic rock" station that plays Nickelback.

Rock 92 has always bastardized what klassic rawk is supposed to be about.

They have always had a very thin playlist. Great as Stairway and Freebird are, they get old when you hear each twice a day for a quarter century.

They have always skewered more towards the redneck side IE too much Skynard & Little Feat. Not everyone who lives here is a beer bloated knucklehead.

They have never embraced the jamband movement (the direct decendent of AOR). Instead they force feed Kid Rock and Nickelback down the listeners throat because some skewered market research shows it 'tests' well.

They have never played enough deep cuts. But this is what happens when you base everything off of the consultants reccomendations based upon suspect market research methodology.

Of course they have also been around for 25 years so I guess there is something to be said about pandering to the lowest common denominator. But artistically there has always been something missing. it will be a happy day when they finally go away, anyone who ever gave a damn about the 'music' turned this station off long ago in favor of sirius, xm the occasional college radio focus show or just their own collection.

LOL Consultants?  You don't know DBC, their research is the station manager's mind!  THAT'S why it's so "thin." On top of that they dub songs into their system from greatest hits CDs, meaning they don't get the true, unadulterated version on the air. Then it's compressed all to hell in the Audio Vault there and comes out sounding all "crunchy" and crappy-sounding. yet they think it's the neatest thing since sliced bread, when in fact, both Rock 92 and 1075kzl's music sounds like a bad dream.  I grew up on AOR back in the late 60's-early 70's, what is now termed Classic Rock or Classic Hits, and Rock 92 is neither! "the dream is over...."

WOW you mean they actually came up with their crappy playlist on their own! I would think only a simple minded market research firm could reccomend the disposable garbage they regurgitate on a daily basis.

In regards to the 'dream' being over, if you used this station as this benchmark for educating yourself on the AOR/classic rock era, you would be musically illiterate.

cRock92 is a perfect example as to why Elvis Costello was right, radio is in the hands of a lot of stupid people.

Please indulge me as I share a story involving Ronie. I only met her one time...back in either August or September 2007, at one of the station's remote broadcasts. I weighed nearly 250 at the time. She was well into her eighth month of pregnancy.

One of the office ladies from the station came up and was talking to Ronie. Ronie told her, "Actually I'm a little down since I just finished my last spin class until the baby comes." I asked her if taking spin classes helped her feel better during her pregnancy. She replied that she didn't take spin classes; she was the instructor.

Today, I am a much trimmer 175, and even though I am the one who did the work and changed my diet, it was her example that got me started.

God bless you, Ronie Alexander.
