Ronnie R. on Rose???

Wow, Ronnie Ramone on The Rose??? all the great FM 97 jocks are heading to The Rose. Good job Rose, sounding better every day. (sorry if I mis spelled you last name wrong Ronny :) )

BTW, 101.3, you guys did another great job this year with the x-mas toons, even after x-mas is over, you still continued to play them. MY KIDS LOVED IT!!. Specially Domanic the Donkey. I know you guys are probably sick to your stomach hearing it in the studio, but all well, keep up the great work in the new year!!!! Oh yea, MORE TSO!!!!! TOOOO They Rock at x-mas time!!!!!!!!

This is not news. RR has been doing part time on the Rose for quite some time.

As far as Christmas goes, Rose did a very good job. I also thought WARM's Christmas programming was very good this year. Choice for the listener is good.

My only wish is that these stations wait until at least Black Friday to start. It's my understanding that Rose began first this year and I guess WARM followed pretty quickly there after.

Ronnie was also named Promotions Director of the Rose. I'm not certain how long ago that was.

I think the Christmas music was a bit too much for too long. Wink 104 and Mix 106 did a better job in regards to spacing the Christmas music out.

When WROZ and WARM came up with this idea, I don't know what they were thinking. I can only imagine that they were hoping for many Christmas parties with a need for holiday music played by radio.

To me personally, the idea of having Christmas music playing that early is sickening and is unfair to listeners and personalities alike. Most of us don't like having Christmas forced upon us that early. It really defeats the reason for Christmas.

The answer lies in the Arbitron ratings. If you look around the country, A/C formatted stations that do wall to wall Christmas usually get a nice bounce in the fall ratings. Both Rose and WARM are both counting on that happening. PLus the additional revenue it brings in.

And who wants all Christmas music? Primarily women with young children who both these stations target. If either station let the other do the all Christmas thing, then the Santa station would probably leave the other in the dust as far as the #s go. What that says is neither station is confident that it's most loyal listeners will stay around if they're not doing Christmas.

It will be very interesting to see if the anti Christmas station..Mix was able to pull some non Christmas fans from either station. And if so....were there enough of these people to really make a difference? A strong showing by Mix in December in the Lancaster and York books (or WSOX for that matter) is probably the only way Rose or WARM re think this tactic. Regular listeners leaving in droves because of all Christmas music.

And in Harrisburg, without a full time Christmas station, it will be interesting to see if either out of town station was able to affect Mix or WNNK.

That's good to know...He was great in that capacity when I worked with him at FM-97. One of the hardest working peeps I've worked with in this biz.

Way to go Ronnie, now show them everything you've got!

Jack it's good to see you're still around.

It's great seeing you around, as well, Bill. We had a great run there at WLAN for a few years, eh? I'm currently doing swing, weekends, and production here in Philly at WOGL. I fill in on every daypart but overnights so I guess I "still got it". ;) Check out my website and send me an email:
