The picture that accompanies your post shows what appears to be to be the antenna mounted a pretty heavy duty pole. Note the climbing pegs on the sides which means that this is a very strong pole.
You don't necessarily need something this strong to hold up a 6812, especially if you are not going to be using radomes on the antenna. You need to make sure the pole is strong enough to hold the antenna even in the highest winds and with a heavy amount of ice if you are in a cold climate. You'll probably want to look at a pipe as opposed to a pole since a pipe will have thicker walls.
Another important consideration is how the pipe is supported. If you can attach the lower portion of it to a wall that will often help.
I highly recommend that you have a professional engineer review and certify whatever plans you come up with . . . in fact many municipalities require this. The last thing you want is to have the thing fall down in a wind storm and hurt someone.
