It was announced this last week that Root Sports will be shutting down at the end of the current regular MLB season. As we all know, Root Sports is not only the home of the Mariners, but it is also owned and operated by the Mariners.
It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens with Mariners games next season. It seems like the answer to that question is still a bit ambiguous at the moment. Regardless, I think it would be interesting to see certain games return to local TV again. The partnership between the Seattle Kraken and KING/KONG has been amazing (speaking as a fan).
If games become difficult to watch on regular TV (or locked behind a subscription), it could potentially be benefit for KIRO AM as well. KIRO has seen impressive numbers this year. I already have enough subscriptions so listening on 710 for free is pretty attractive to me.
