Rosalynn Carter, Former First Lady

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, wife of President Jimmy Carter, has died at age 96:

God gained another amazing soul today. RIP, First Lady. The angels are singing today. Condolences to the President and his family/friends, and especially the congregation at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains GA (the couple's home church).

It gives me no joy to say this, but I fear President Carter's trajectory will be similar to George H.W. Bush's after Barbara passed. He didn't last much longer, and seemingly died of a broken heart. I expect a similar thing to happen with Mr. Carter, especially since he's been in hospice himself for the last 8 or 9 months. I get the feeling he was hanging on because Roselynn was, and now his reason for hanging on may also be gone.

The Carters were married for 77 years. They were humble, intelligent, and classy. The United States could sure use more people like them in politics. Mrs. Carter made many positive contributions during her lifetime...
They both had lives well-lived. After leaving Washington, the Carters left a template of service that may never be repeated.
Agreed. Some may argue that the Carters did more for humanity and for citizens of the world in general after President Carter left the presidency than he was able to during his 4 years in office. And you're also correct that both Carters were classy people and were notably well-liked and respected by their staff in the White House. To show the antitheses, our immediate past president spent this morning attacking Jimmy Carter and his presidency on social media, which is sad and unfortunate.

He somehow sinks to depths lower than one can imagine being possible. By the way, if any aliens are flying over, beam him up.

Many conservatives believe that Jimmy Carter wasn't the best President for various reasons, heck even some Democrats. BUT...his post-Presidency work (and Rosalynn, too) was even better than anything that could come out of the Oval Office. Rosalynn worked just as hard for Habitat for Humanity as the former President. And she was a deacon for Jimmy's church in Plains.
You don't have to declare a political position to love the Lord. And Rosalynn proved that.

Presidents can't be rated fairly while in office. I'm not hearing any peacemakers today. We really need someone like Jimmy Carter to put our country back together and to show the people of our planet that we can get along.
