Ross Love dead at 64

Man what a shock and loss. I worked at the Blue Chip stations in Louisville and Lexington. Buying The Wiz out of bankruptcy pretty much saved Urban radio in Cincy. He was such a pleasure to work for, I hated it when Radio One bought the Blue Chip group.

He will be missed.

I cannot imagine. What a complete shock.

You're right on the cause of death not being disclosed.

No where.

His office call me yesterday to inform me of the passing, I was so shocked I just went into the office and remained silent for awhile.
He hired me to work afternoons for the Columbus property, during our initial meeting he said I will give you the tools to win.
When I got to Columbus CKX was ranked #22 in the market, I was coming form #1 ranked HRK in Memphis.
In two and half years under the leadership he had put in place in Columbus OH. urban station WCKX 107.5FM was the #1 ranked radio station 12+ and 18-34.
The word pioneer is used to describe Ross Love a lot, but he was also a visionary and an owner that cared about his staff.
Oh how we need more owners like that in radio today.
Two weeks ago he sent me a message to tell me he will call me when he got out of the hospital, we won't have that conversation here on earth, but I can hardly wait to speak to him in Heaven.
God bless the Love family. He will be greatly missed.

Visionary is a good way to describe him, Geester. Ross was also an excellent and smart business man. He found best people for the job, hired them, then got the hell out of their way. Totally opposite of the way Radio One operates.

I have been thinking about Cheryl all day. I hope she and the rest of the family are all doing alright.
