A buddy is looking at an opportunity in the Roswell market. I havent been there in over 20 years. Whats the market like these days? Who should he court? Who should he stay away from?
Interesting question. I started my radio career in Roswell and was there from '71-'75. After thirty plus years working in radio from Colorado to Alaska, I'm thinking Roswell or somewhere in the Southwest would be a great place to retire. BTW....never heard a peep about Aliens while in Roswell back then and I hung out with people who grew up there. Nice place.....beautiful sunsets.....save Ruidoso til last.
Same thing when I was there in '85. Glad to see theyve finally embraced their UFO legacy.
I'd heard recently that KBIM AM/FM had been sold, but another friend told me that John & Betty King screwed up the deal before it could be completed. Something about retaining ownership of the tower site.
Any idea who really owns Roswell Radio? I was curious about the group that owns KBCQ and others and google didn't give me much. I may not be looking in the obvious places. John King and Betty.....Real Roswell institutions... Maybe we ought to visit with John and see if we can buy KBIM from him now....maybe he'll throw in the tower site. ;D
A friend of mine recently relocated from the Daytona, Florida area to Roswell and is working for KCKN. I've never heard a bad thing about it from him....
Hey slim101...good work!
Now how about those people who now own KBCQ and KCKN?
1020AM used to be KSWS (back in my time in Roswell). Am very curious about the current owners? Local?
Thanks ahead of time.
This info also should be posted in their "Public Inspection File"
(ask for it, its your right to look at it, but be prepared for some hostility)
Also in the public file should be "The Public & Broadcasting" to tell you what they should have and how you can see it.
Did a bit of research on the company Roswell Radio and found this interesting item about the President (john Dunn) and the EEOC. 2nd story down on this link. Glad I'm not a woman at Roswell Radio.
