I knew it was a bit immediately, a clever one but what tipped me off was the way the guy kept screaming just like the guy who immitates Dave for Stern. also the sidekick Irma or whatever was too bad to even believe. The deal length should not be what you go by it is possible. Nik Carter's first afternoon contract was Five years so Infinity will make that sort of investment in those they believe in. Lander had five year deals for mornings at BMX I believe too.

it was very bogus when you heard the van halen music beds and sound clips...dave hates van halen and tries to steer clear of anything to do with vh.

The length of a contract means nothing really.

It's completely possible that Roth will get a "long" deal if/when he gets stations on.

With the kind of money Roth is likely demanding, do you really want to risk him to a long contract?

I doubt he is in much of a position to demand a lot of money. I can guarantee you he is not getting Howard money.

Re: Howard Stern et. al.

I don't think Howard Stern will be around much past early Fall.

I don't think he'll abruptly quit. Instead, expect him to announce a firm date for his last live Infinity show at least a few days, and probably a few weeks, prior to the last live show taking place.

That way, it can be promoted as a major media event.

And since up to two dozen of Howard Stern's current affiliates will be changing formats when he leaves (perhaps including his flagship, WXRK-92.3 New York; Boston affiliate WBCN-104.1 will not be among them---I expect they'll stay as a rock station), it would also give those stations planning to change formats when Stern leaves some lead time in planning the change.

Even if Infinity were to syndicate the real David Lee Roth in mornings, I think he'd be a better fit for a classic rocker that for a station like WBCN.

It's getting very,very, old.

That is not at all accurate. There have been no announcements of anyone flipping when Howard leaves, nothing definate has been said by any station so for you to proclaim that two dozen of his current affilliates will be changing is just stupid. You have no basis for that statement other than your opinion, there is no evidence that WXRK will flip other than your opinion. Although there is a good chance that XRk could flipbut if what Howard said on air monday is true that Roth has been hired to do mornings in NYC, it is doubtful that they actually will flip. You just seem to always want to say SOMETHING even if it's complete crap which you know nothing about.

It's getting very, very old.

In addition, WXRK is up in NYC and surrounding suburbs, a good three months or so after the shift from alternative to mainstream rock. I would guess that the spike in K-Rock's ratings is due to the music change, leading me to believe that K-Rock will be a rock station for a while.
