Roth promo

About 7:30 tonight FREE YSP aired a promo for David Lee Roth's new show. The promo consisted of Roth saying a short sentence, then 3 "callers" saying how good the show is. I hate to be so negative after the first week (actually 4 days). It seems to me that they should have played a brief segment/sound bite from one of the shows this week, but judging by what I have heard, they could not find ONE funny or interesting sound clip to play at all from the first week.

I am all for "give it time" etc... However, given time, the Titanic broke in half and sunk. Does anyone think Roth will pull this one out and survive longer than 1 or 2 books?

ysp info

From what I gathered today, speaking with a sales person, the music is going to stay after 7pm and weekends, indefinitely. They are already billing Big Rock Acts for the Spring and Summer, to go along with the music parts. I also heard its not the music that is on trial but the talk portion, if that does not fly, music will be back full time at YSP. They will be adding former PLY staples such as Oasis, Radio Head and others, plus keep the Hard Rock. I still think this sucks, due to the fact they are still blocking a station from going Active full time, maybe I am wrong on this assumption. I guess a station can still go Active with YSP doing it part-time, but you know the business, I won't even mention any threat from MMR, whatever that is on 93.3.

Forgive me, but I do see you post rather frequently on the board, but I seem to be having some difficulty deciphering your above statement. Does it have something to do with the 'MMR and 'MGK similar playlist thing?? Just curious before I post my thoughts.

In terms of DLR's promo, 92.3 Free FM in NYC WAS using several clips from the 1st week of shows. Not entirely sure why 'YSP didn't, couldn't, or chose not to...

I've listened to about an hour of the show last Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then again today. I've heard plenty of interesting and humorous things they could have used. There's been plenty of hokey stuff too but we'd expect nothing less.

Unless people abandon the station without giving Dave a chance, I think the forecasts of doom are a little premature. It's actually a pretty good show, IMO.
