Roula and Ryan v. Sam Malone

My take on the whole R&R v. Sam Malone? I say forget them both...they both suck. And I'm not just saying this because I like W & J. I just don't think either of them are really that great. I think R & R would fit in at 106.9 if they decided to drop the "all music mornings". However they tend to boast the all music mornings so I doubt they'd replace it with talk. Also I wouldn't be suprised at all, if the point goes bye bye soon. There ratings are terrible and have been. No one better shoot back at me and say KIOLs ratings are terrible too, I know this I can read just fine. My point (no pun intended) is that the point has been around for a while and has been at the bottom of the ratings for a while too.
Anyhow back to R&R being replaced. For all those heartbroken over the loss of R&R, get over it. Its radio it happens all the time. Sam Malone will probably get his walking papers three years from now too.
Are you shocked at how it was handled? I'm not. It happens all the time at any job. You go in to ask the boss if your job is in jeopardy, do you really think he will tell you, "Yes, we are replacing you in six months."? Nope they'd never say that. Heck almost a year ago W&J got a call at 9 at night and were told don't come in tomorrow morning the station is changing formats, goodbye.
Lastly, Where the hell is theclearanswer in all of this? I'm sure he'd be bragging about Sam Malone...it would probably go something like this...

Subject: Radio has gotten a whole lot better

Just when you thought radio couldn't get any better, Mix 96.5 has added the awesome talent of Sam Malone for its morning show. Almost a year ago we got the wonderful MEGA 101 with Chico & Rascal in the mornings now we have Sam Malone too! Ken really knows what he is doing when he can hire awesome talent.

hahahahahahahahahahaha

Very funny. I'm just wondering how long it will take to replace every CC rock/classic rock morning show in the country with Lex and Terry.

PS...I worked with Lex Staley (for that matter, during the crucial time when he came back to Jax, jettisoned what was left of Arf-n-Annie *annie* and called his friend Terry Jaymes to come join him in the mornings) at WFYV 104.5 in Jacksonville, Florida. Nobody could be more proud, I love that those guys---old friends---have stuck around and followed the vision, like we all tried to do. Sorry I missed them by a few months---ah, well.

Thing is, I think I may still owe Lex some money he fronted out of his own pocket to cover a remote, back when he was my PD in the Metroplex/Evergreen Media/LMA days. If so (and if he comes to Houston), you didn't see me. Clear? Come on, I'd do it for you. I mean, it's not like I won't get back to him, sometime, it's just, you know, Houston, radio, etc.

Tell him "Hi," anyway. One of my best PDs ever, brought out the creativity in every member of the team, down to the guy who drove the hearse. 6 AM with the strongest coffee in the world used to be really cool. Yeah, I know, back when.

:)
