'The Fandango Experiment' Replaces Rover's Morning Glory At KPNT

EMMIS Alternative KPNT (105.7 THE POINT)/ST. LOUIS dropped syndicated ROVER'S MORNING GLORY this morning (1/26) and announced that DONNIE FANDANGO will return to THE POINT to host mornings starting MONDAY, JANUARY 29. The new morning show, "THE FANDANGO EXPERIMENT," will focus on the music.

Does Rover even have any markets left besides Cleveland, Memphis, and Rochester?

Nope, that's all Rover has left. I don't expect the other two affiliates to last much longer after Entercom gets it act together. Look how quickly Rover fell in one year.

On another note, I'm glad KPNT is going to a local morning show, with music nonetheless, but I find it funny that they "invented" this new morning format. Other stations are doing it too.

Regardless of what you thought of ROVER, radio stations believed in him enough to put him on...in my opinion, one year to prove yourself in ratings in many markets not in your own isn't CLOSE to enough time. Opie and Anthony haven't done it either. LOOK around at some ratings.

Right, talk shows are different from music shows. It takes at least three years for a talk show to at LEAST gain ground. Even Howard Stern stuggled the first years. He was fired numerous times until one station stuck with him. But by then he was already semi-established. Now he's gone and the suits are expecting immediate results from his replacements. Aint gonna happen.
