A Mark.
You are ALL marks. The Rover show is an ENTERTAINMENT show on the radio. Radio is THEATER OF THE MIND. The crew sits around for hours creating content each day. As a “mark" you think it's all real. Sometimes it's staged, but it gets attention and ratings which = revenue.
Some of the statements about WMMS and the MWL departure only show you clearly have no insight or personal experience on how commercial radio operates or any business for that matter. You believed everything that was said on the air, and mistook entertainment for fact. The fact is, sometimes jocks can roll the dice to test their value and lose. Unemployment will humble you. Personally, I loved the Maxwell show, and I enjoy the Alan Cox show as well. Two different shows, however WMMS is making it work.
In the days of social media, every talent wants to look good to their fans in the wake of their quick exit from the airwaves. Just because it appears in print does not make it so, they are still playing the role of their character. I love seeing jocks that were notorious dbags play the role of the victim. (not saying Maxwell was one of them) I got fired appears to be the battle cry for jocks that refused to adapt to the new realities of the business and economy in 2010.
A MXL vs. RMG battle will be interesting. For that matter morning radio in Cleveland with new shows on: WGAR, WNCX, and WQAL. Salem is launching a national morning show on the Fish in the next few weeks, and that will be 4 new shows.
So for every post I see about “Cleveland Radio Sucks” and “nothing happens here” get over it. We have two of the best shows in the country in my opinion about to do battle. There is plenty of good stuff going on.
