Rover's LeBron Voodoo skit

God, that was embarrassing.

It also backfired, seeing as how the AP story was pretty mocking.

Good job, Rover. The only two times you ever get covered by the national press, it's to make fun of you for hiring a Voodoo witch doctor to curse that lying scumbag LeBron, and the other time is when you get fired from Chicago for horrible ratings.

Will the FCC PLEASE tighten the decency rules to force Rover off the air for good?

Embarassing? How?

In the middle of the fall book, err, sorry october PPM's Rover:

1. Created a bit his listeners were talking about ALL day.
2. Got local attention from Cleveland TV news
3. Received National attention, TMZ, ESPN etc.

I'd say it was genius, and it worked.

Bzzz, wrong... Remember when Dieter pulled a Sebastian Bach at "RoverFest" a couple of years ago?

Don't forget the show staffer running around in the snow on a "19 Action News" live shot. Well, I'm trying to forget that.

Though the Mighty Blog(tm) is mostly yawning at a publicity stunt, anything that gets you on the AP wire and ESPN, mocking or not, is good publicity for the show and the station.

I don't believe this made national headlines, but I recall back in the Free-FM days of the show, there was a major scuffle between show members Dieter and Grody. All I remember is Rover telling listeners he saw Dieter throw Grody into a chair, and that fisticuffs were exchanged...

A Mark.

You are ALL marks. The Rover show is an ENTERTAINMENT show on the radio. Radio is THEATER OF THE MIND. The crew sits around for hours creating content each day. As a “mark" you think it's all real. Sometimes it's staged, but it gets attention and ratings which = revenue.

Some of the statements about WMMS and the MWL departure only show you clearly have no insight or personal experience on how commercial radio operates or any business for that matter. You believed everything that was said on the air, and mistook entertainment for fact. The fact is, sometimes jocks can roll the dice to test their value and lose. Unemployment will humble you. Personally, I loved the Maxwell show, and I enjoy the Alan Cox show as well. Two different shows, however WMMS is making it work.

In the days of social media, every talent wants to look good to their fans in the wake of their quick exit from the airwaves. Just because it appears in print does not make it so, they are still playing the role of their character. I love seeing jocks that were notorious dbags play the role of the victim. (not saying Maxwell was one of them) I got fired appears to be the battle cry for jocks that refused to adapt to the new realities of the business and economy in 2010.

A MXL vs. RMG battle will be interesting. For that matter morning radio in Cleveland with new shows on: WGAR, WNCX, and WQAL. Salem is launching a national morning show on the Fish in the next few weeks, and that will be 4 new shows.

So for every post I see about “Cleveland Radio Sucks” and “nothing happens here” get over it. We have two of the best shows in the country in my opinion about to do battle. There is plenty of good stuff going on.

Yeah, good stuff if you are a 15-year old boy. I heard the Maxwell promo on WNCX, and the word "penis" was uttered twice in 15 seconds. And that's just the promo! Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! I can't wait. Not.

I never really got a chance to listen to Maxwell before he got fired, but I have a few friends who were fans and I'll be listening on Monday. I've always maintained that so-called immature humor depends more on the style than the subject matter. Adam Carolla is an example of a guy who can make fart and penis jokes but do it in an intelligent way, if that makes any sense. Hopefully Maxwell can do that too.

Are they bringing back that "upload your boobs" contest?
