Royal Marshall Passes

WSB's Royal Marshall passed away last night according to a couple of my Cox connections. A memo to the staff went out this morning.

He apparently collapsed in his bathroom, and his wife was unable to revive him. I don't know his age except that he was obviously very young, making this especially sad.

Wow...if that is true it is very sad. He had a natural talent and I enjoyed listening to him. WSB would have done well to give him a show.

This is sad, really sad. What a loss of a great talent.

Very sad to hear this. RR Piper you took the words right out of my mouth, I never met him but sounded like a class act.

I can't add to what others here have said... a tremendous, tremendous loss. The conversations (debates?) he & Bortz would have on air were exceptional.

...

My prayers are with his family, & his radio family. He will be deeply, deeply missed.

Absolutely. His input with Neal often gave a softer side to the show, and let Neal have his bombastic side. Although I no longer live in Atlanta, when I saw this I felt a kick in the gut.

Thank you, Royal. You're already missed.

Always thought he was a voice of reason on that show. My deepest condolences to his young family.

I agree with Neil Millman-- Royal was a voice of reason. I admired him a lot and thought he did a great job with his own show. This is a tragic loss that impacts so many people, especially his wife and little girls. May God bless them all.

WOW!!! What a loss... Royal was the voice of reason on the show for sure. I remember still living in SC and would listen to him... I remember "The Royal Treatment" show and just always liked to hear his opinions of a lot of different things... RIP... CC1

I met Royal at my very first NAB in SD in I think 2004...he was a down to earth guy who gave this radio rookie not only the time of day but seemed to be genuinely interested in me. We corresponded several times after that time as he helped answer questions for me. He was a class act. I will miss his (as it has been described so aptly by others here) voice of reason on Boortz. Someone may take his place but the they will never fill his shoes.
