Royce International saga, update

As of October 15th, 2022. What is the latest scenario/news regarding 92.7 KREV with the Bankruptcy, Ed Stoltz, and VCY America?

Is it unheard of for a smaller broadcaster like townsquare or forever media to purchase a signal like this if VCY falls out?
Both Townsquare and Forever Media are small to medium market players, operating multiple stations in their markets. A stand alone with coverage issues in a major market aint what either company wants.

Crazy Ed is blowing smoke when he says there are a number of companies interested in KREV. He's also using every tactic to stall the bankruptcy filing and drag this thing out with appeals for as long as he can. Tilting at windmills is in his DNA.

What companies besides VCY? This is the same tactic Ed Stolz did in Sacramento over the now known Audacy stations KUDL and the former intercom owned KDND now known as iHeart's KZIS-FM.

It's such a shame to see a wasted signal, but who would want to do business with them, after all that VCY reportedly lost during their LMA time.

We have quite a few wasted signals in the market - slow nails in the coffin to radio. Here’s hoping for a revitalization one day!

I still think a great suitor for 92.7 would still be the Silicon Valley Asian Media Group, owner of KSJO. They could simulcast to give better coverage of the northern half of the Bay area, big bonus having the 2 signals next to each other. Or start a separate Asian language format. I know at one time they were interested in buying more radio properties to expand Asian language programming.

The prices he feels that can be commanded for his stations are laughable in 2022. Considering what the owner will (likely) have to encounter in dealing with him, take 20% off of market value for lawyers fees.

I turn to 92.7 FM and they are playing "Dance" music. It reminds me of the old Energy 92.7 FM. Also, the v/o sounds for "Pirate Radio" sounds similar to the old Energy 92.7FM. The signal sounds weak and the RDS stated "Pirate KREV". I can't tell if the format is real or just stunting.

I wonder if it was the real 92.7 or just someone pirating on that blank channel. Any audio or was it dead carrier?

Yesterday, it was a strong carrier, silent, the fact it was sending RDS made me think it wasn't a casual pirate. My car radio doesn't indicate stereo or not.

There are a few programs running around now that will encode stereo and RDS using a 192 KHz sound card. Not exactly inexpensive, but not like buying an Inovonics either. Given the fact that we haven't heard anything official about Crazy Ed's law proceedings, I bet it's a pirate.
