RTN now on WJTV

Finally. After being listed as an affilate on the RTN website for months. Retro-televison network is now on WJTV 12.3 in Jackson. Just got through watching Magnum PI and "Emergency" Haven't seen either one of those shows in years. According to the website rtnville.com, they have some really good old TV shows that haven't been seen in a while. This channel blows away the once great TVLand. Another cool thing is that they don't slice off the epiloge and closing credits like they do on cable. I'm glad I still have an antenna. If you don't have dtv get it. I wouldn't take TVLand or half the stuff on cable anymore even if they gave it away for free. Long live RTN.

Disclaimer: The preceeding post was not a plug for WJTV or Retrotelevision Network. lol

WJTV is not running any local commercials on it yet. Its just dead air with the RTN logo on the screen during the local breaks. Watched Leave it to Beaver and Alfred Hitchcock last night. McMillan and Wife is on right now. I need to tape some of these shows before they take them off. It seems every time I find a station I like, such as TV Land etc. Its only a matter of time before they stink it up with bad reality shows and worthless crap nobody likes.

How's the PQ?

Are the copies of these old shows decent, or is the quality weak? There's an America One affiliate in Tuscaloosa that looks like the programming comes off a K-Mart value VCR in someone's basement. I'd watch more but the picture is just awful.

Most of them look fairly decent. I've only seen a handful of scratches. A few of them look like they came from unrestored video tapes. They may need to get some fresh prints made from the original films. Since its on a digital subchannel, nothing looks HD quality because of the compression. But overall I'm impressed by the channel. I've really enjoyed Adam 12, Dragnet, Hulk, Knight Ridder, Rockford Files etc. reruns. They had a lot of stuff I wanted to see over the summer but apparently they lost the rights to them so they've changed the line up, but still some very good old shows on it. you can look at the TV Guide for 12.3 at RTNville.com

Thanks for the info, flytrap. For some reason I was under the (mistaken) impression that RTN would also be on WTVA-DT in Tupelo. Turns out they're carrying FamilyNet instead.

I can't get WJTV here in Grenada, although the analog picture comes through from time to time on channel 12.
