RTN ON KLDT DALLAS & KNWS HOUSTON

Anyone heard anything more about this? 6/12 is nearly history and still there's no change on KLDT in Dallas.

Sorry, but I have no idea about RTN which is supposed to be on 54-2.

What I do know is that KLDT did switch from RF 54 to RF 39 after KXTX signed off their analog facillity sometime after noon and sometime before 2359 on 12 JUN 2009. If the FCC's TV Query is correct, KLDT is currently operating with just 31.5 kw from a 1620' HAAT stick out on Tar Road. If that's really the power, that's a very potent 30 gallons. It's reading at 67 on the 0-100 scale on the DigitalStream converter box using a Terk HDTVa way up here in Frisco. That's about double the reading I got when they were still on RF 54. Is KLDT *really* using just 31.5 kw?

KXTX signed of its analog channel 39 signal at 10:35pm last night.
I checked shortly before then and noticed that KLDT 54 was off the air.
Around 11pm, KLDT was back on the air in digital on channel 39 (mapping to 54.1)

This is just a guess, but its possible that your Terk antenna just has higher gain at channel 39 than it did at 54. At my location, KLDT's strength did drop noticeably: it now pixellates on indoor antenna I use for my battery-operated TV while it didn't before. (It's fine on the TVs fed by the attic antenna, though.)

I re-scanned my DTV to check to see if KLDT has signed on 54.2 with RTN and nothing has came up. Has anyone heard when they will sign that on? And has KNWS in Houston signed on RTN at 47.2 yet? It said it was suppose to be this past Saturday on 6-13.

as far as Houston, KNWS at least on my box is still at 51.1. 47.1 is still KTMD and there is no subchannel for KNWS as of yet. The only differences in the Houston market that I have found is KPXB moving from 49 to 13 and KTBU adding 2 subchannels at 55.4 and 55.5, of which 55.5 "ITV" began service yesterday (Monday). 55.4 is still blank.

I could've sworn KPXB was moving to 32 and I called the KNWS offices yesterday to see why their main signal is off the air and the lady said "their working on it."

KPXB did move to RF 32... KTRK moved back to RF 13.

and Channel 51 KNWS is really confused. They were planning on IDing as 47.1 and RTN on 47.2 -- but KTMD, which moved its signal from analog 47 to digital 48 is still IDing as 47.1. KNWS thought that KTMD was going to start IDing as 48.1 (reclaiming its original analog brand of channel 48), but it is not. KNWS is also having problems with the transmitter... so now I don't think anyone can get KNWS.
I try to punch in 47.1 manually and it pops up at KTMD on my TV.

maybe I need to erase KTMD and then manually punch in 47.1 for KNWS and manually 48.1 for KTMD -- but if 51's transmitter is down that won't help.

Ok now when are we gonna see RTV? I been scanning every day to find it, and so far no luck....

KNWS is on the air at VERY low power. I'm in Katy with a clear line of site to the antenna farm and I can only see it with an outdoor antenna mounted in my attic. None of the indoor antennas can catch a whiff of the station.

Here in the Clear Lake area KNWS is showing (but barely) to be at 56% on my DB8 (installed indoors). This is the first time I've got a WHIFF of it since the changeover. Nothing else on RTN though. My DVR does however show them to be at 47.

This has always been an issue but can anyone clarify why TV51's picture is so awful looking. Is their sister station in Dallas just as bad? When I was able to receive them for a bit today I was blown away with how it looks. Doesn't compare to any other station in town. Kinda looks like everything that's being fed thru is on a VHS tape.

Also what's up with their main signal being on 47.2? Where does that leave Retro TV? I tried 47.1 and got Telemundo.

I noticed that when they were running their analog signal. It seems the engineering for the digital signal wasn't good either since there would be green pixelation and then you can see the progressive scan when changing to that channel before transition and the same program source quality. I rescaned my father's box Thursday afternoon and couldn't get 51. The only way to get 51 is to get it through cable (but Channel 2 still has the NAB DTV PSA and it interferes with the cable transmission).

Just noticed on the KNWS site, their is now NO LONGER mention of them adding RTN.

I suspect that may have to do with the fact they were confused over whether they could ID the channel as 47.2 instead of 51.2.
Either way, it's not a good sign.

Good news! KNWS website says that RTN will be coming on 51.2.

Still waiting for it to actually happen.

Hi all. I registered just to post this. I just talked to someone who works at KNWS and he said they are still planning to carry RTN in Houston and Dallas. It will be sometime in October and the Dallas channel will be a sub-channel so he wasn't sure if it would show up on cable or not. They were planning to have RTN in June for the conversion but couldn't get a strong enough signal at that time. He did say he'd keep me updated.

He indicated they would both Dallas and Houston would start at the same time, and as it got closer there would be info on their web page.
