RTN/Retro Television Network

OK, I am so confused about this network/channel/whatever it is I don't know where to start.

So they are going 'national' on July 7th, 2007. Exactly what are they DOING? Does this mean they're going to be like ION, and have a feed for the local channels to carry, and one for the cable/satellite provider (DirecTV, Comcast, Dish, etc)? That's what they need to get their product piped in to the average American home, right now at least. Or are they going to stick do digital subchannels? With the way TV Land is going with shows like Mad About You, Cosby, Murphy Brown, Designing Women, Just Shoot Me, Scrubs, etc coming now is a prime time to start a classic TV network up. The audience is out there, and for a tiny network like that, if they could strike a deal with something like DirecTV, Dish, or whatever I think they would do well. Unacceptable ratings for a show on TV Land would probably be more-than-acceptable for a network like RTN. One man's trash....another man's treasure. Look at Mamas Family - ratings waned on TBS but the ratings are overwhelmingly great for ION.

Can someone help me? I remember going to RetroTelevision.net and there was an ad saying to call your cable/satellite provider if you want the network, so are they available for cable/satellite also? I'm SO confused!!!!

Thanks!

Equity Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) signed an agreement with CBS Television to distribute their classic programming called the CBS library for RTN which is a divison of EBC. This agreement is for five years and will allow CBS Televison to be supply a minimum of 55 hours of programming to each RTN affiliate.

RTN is geared toward subchannels but has some full power stations already. On July 7th RTN plans to launch it's new line up with the slogan "Prime Time all the Time"

That is the press release from their site.

We already get a lot of their shows from ME-TV so I wonder if it'll land in Chicago.

Thanks. That helped...hopefully they release some sort of schedule soon!

So when I called them asking them how to get it a month or so ago how to recieve it after it goes 'national', they said to start calling your cable/satellite provider about getting the channel - so is there going to be a LOCAL feed and a NATIONAL feed like ION? One for local channels and one for cable/satellite? I remember their website used to call your cable provider also. Just trying to get this clear....

I imagine that they will be offering the programming service to stations across the country beginning in July. If they intended a cable/satellite network, carriage agreements would have already been announced.

I wonder if the CBS show deal includes an agreement for CBS O&Os to air RTN on a digital multicast station.

The original announcement that I saw for the RTN/CBS deal indicated that the RTN schedule would be customized by market, which means that there probably won't be any sort of national schedule for this network.
