RTV SWITCHES AFFILIATES TO ONE NATIONAL SCHEDULE

from sitcomsonline.com......

RTV is using a national schedule now for ALL of the affiliates, unless an affiliate preempts something on its own. For example, all RTV affiliates will have Starsky & Hutch weeknights at 8pm followed by Police Story at 9pm nationwide. Joining the line-up next week (Monday, July 4) will be Highway to Heaven and it will air weeknights at 6pm. RTV couldn't get the rights to that in time for this week, so they are airing an extra hour of Daniel Boone this week, in addition to its regular 7pm airing.

New schedule (from WOI 5 Des Moines)

How do all RTV affils air the same show at the same time--example, 8 PM weeknights?

Does the network send out four separate satellite feeds? Or does each station "ingest"
RTV programming into its playback server ahead of time?

It did seem odd that, at the time change in March, KAZT 7.2 Prescott/Phoenix did not
move the then-current RTV schedule an hour earlier (no DST in AZ).

I suspect they have 4 time zones running at once or have some way of recording the
Eastern Time Zone and playing it back. This makes much more logic than sending out
114 or so different feeds. It's bound to save some money for them.

It's 12:39 A.M. in the Quad Cities and Cold Case Files is on WHBF's RTV channel right now. But that would make it 1:39 A.M. Eastern Time, and according to the new RTV schedule on RTV's website, It's supposed to be on at midnight Eastern Time, which would make it 11 P.M. here. Is this supposed to be local time basis (like The Early Show, Today, or Good Morning, America)? Or will it eventually air at the "right" times?

Basically, if it says midnight, it's midnight local time, regardless of the time zone. Here in Phoenix, it's 11 PM and "The Saint" is going off, just as the schedule says it should. Of course, KAZT's PSIP is messed up - still showing the old RTV schedule.

Not liking RTV's new lineup AT ALL.

The other night I tuned in to watch The Incredible Hulk, only to find that it had been dropped for Daniel Boone. Terrible.
