RUBBER CITY RADIO...IS ANYONE PAYING ATTENTION?

Recently I have been listening to WAKR. Is anyone even paying attention to all the idiotic mistakes going on there? Lousy backtiming on songs, news cutting into the songs at the top of the hour. Heard "Polk Salad Annie" TWICE in one hour [even though one of the times it was chopped off in the middle for the news, maybe someone complained because 52 minutes later it was playing again, the whole song this time], Dead air for approx 3 minutes at midnight when they played the news sounder and....nothing, no news, till ABC news all of a sudden popped in. Promos on the 1 AM news to be sure and listen to the Cavaliers game on 1590 WAKR........ that had been played EARLIER that evening. [No, it wasn't for a promo for game 2]. If you're going to repeat your newscast, I would make sure references to stuff that have ALREADY taken place earlier in the day/evening [with the exception of news] be deleted or not mentioned at all. And how about increasing the playlists of songs? Playing the same 40 songs over and over makes you sound like a CC station....I expect better from a LOCALLY owned station that was exceptional to listen to back in the 60s, 70s and early 80s...maybe they figure no one is listening anymore late in the evening or during the overnight hours so why bother with quality?
 
Have you expressed your concern to management there?
 
No, because when I am up and listening the management apparently isn't otherwise they would do something about it [meaning when I am up, they are sleeping away]. A couple of stations I worked at had the evening and overnight talent record their shows and the next day the PD or GM would listen to them. Any goofs, and they were called on the carpet about them.
 
Sad since RCRG is one of the last radio companies in this area I have faith in as far as giving the listener a quality product.

I know some of the Rubber City folks read this board, though they don't post. Hopefully they might mention this to management. Unlike Clear Channel people, they don't go into attack mode when someone offers criticism.
 
I believe Chuck Collins has more then 40 songs to play, they have a ton of songs, and some are very rare that no one else plays, I agree with the last comment that they are about the only one's local that still have great programming and a nice size news staff that are there 24/7... Ed makes sure the news staff is well aware of what goes on their, and a promo may get by once in a while that may be late, but like I said, the music and LOCAL coverage in sports and the talented personalities that Rubber City has is not found at many stations today, I enjoyed working with them all and they are a good business (and family) to work for.
