Rumba 104.5 it is

what does ORGULLO mean? and -- how do you know the rumba1045 website belongs to 104.5---Philly?

Yeah, its down for me, but now the URL is active, so something was done.

"how do you know the rumba1045 website belongs to 104.5---Philly?"
I think its safe to assume, with 104.5 changing today, expected to be spanish for weeks, rumba1045.com probably belongs to them.

I still can see the Rumba website--- at least last time I looked--- minutes ago. Frankly, I'm surprised no Philly FM tried Latino before. here in NYC--I can hear Latino programming on 8 am and fm stations. Too bad I failed spanish in high school. I had a female spanish teacher who could barely speak english. I was in her class when John Kennedy was killed and she was totally confused.

This will be an absolute disgrace!! Who the heck asked for this any way?!?!?! To think we will never hear english on, or listen to the 104.5 frequency again! What a fricken waste! What would our fore fathers think??

AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!

Clear Channel should be ashamed of themselves. They now SUX along with Radio One for taking away unique stations and giving us nothing but the same old CRAP...and this includes that new Philly 10suxs. Damn it just gives us Y100, Sunny and Smooth Jazz back............NOW!

NYC is 21.2% hispanic, and thats just 12+. Philly is 5% 12+

does the 5% include all the Latino's they may get in Camden/Trenton/Wilmington? (and Chester / Norristown too!!!!! )

Well they will grab quite a few listeners in the Lehigh Valley and Reading markets. In Reading and Allentown/Bethlehem there is somewhat of a Hispanic Audience. We only got 1 station on AM in Allentown tho.

The Rumba 104.5 phrase means Pride Latino!

I love all the very well thought out and articulated arguments against the spanish station...

DUDE IT SUX0R!!!111ONE!!!!

The only one that makes a lot of sense is that there really isn't that big of a Spanish population compared to NYC and other similiar Urban markets with Spanish FMs. But like someone else pointed out... they're aiming to grab from more than just Philly. I'm pretty sure they're trying to grab Spanish speaking listeners from every corner of their broadcast range. I don't think it's a good idea but hey it's worth a shot.

And for those who say rock will make more, you're failing (as per usual) to see how much it COSTS to run a rock station. It's a very expensive format hence why you see less and less of it on the dail.

5% is the Philadelphia market, not Philadelphia the city, so yes Camden, and the Philly suberbs are included. Trenton/Wilmington, and AC are dsifferent markets.

What a terrible waste of programming for a major FM in the Philadelphia market. What were geniuses at Clear Channel Radio thinking with this horrible programming flip.
