Rumba desde Providence a Boston

One of the new liners on Rumba says they're "desde providence a boston." I can barely hear 1430 in Roslindale.......so is it 1200 that reaches Providence? Or is this just exaggerating a bit?

I've noticed 1200 coming in south of Boston (in parts of CT and RI) before. Check out this coverage map:

http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WKOX&service=AM&status=L&hours=D
(daytime)
and the CP daytime map:

by the way WGIR in Manchester NH (also heard on stations in Rochester & Portsmouth area, NH) has been
saying "from Manchester to Boston"...they may be billing themselves as a station Granite Staters who work
in Boston can listen to, on their commutes

That's crazy. I live in the Merrimack Valley in Massachusetts and WGIR-AM is almost a goner there. And of course Boston has a powerful signal on 590 with a transmitter north of the city.

Does their 1540 signal (WGIP) come in for you?

WGIR does well for me on the North Shore and Rt 128 and as I head north on, say, I-95, the
Rochester and Exeter simulcasts start to come in.

No, there's little to choose between 610 and 1540 except 610 doesn't get a littler splatter from WNTN.

It really doesn't matter whether or not 1200 reaches Providence or Provincetown. They say it to create an illusion of a station with a big audience.

I am sure in the Providence market 100.3FM is the station of choice for those looking to hear Latin music.

I also doubt any Latin music fans in Providence will be tuning into Rumba 1200 when they can hear the crisp clean signal of Latina 100.3 on FM. Even if they are willing to listen to AM radio, Providence has its own AM Spanish stations.

I will say though I was stuck in traffic on the mass pike westbound today, and picked up Rumba 1200 all the way to Sturbridge. That means the station will hit heavily Hispanic areas like Worcester. Not a bad deal.

It will in the daytime. Their directional night signal beams east, and doesn't go west toward Worcester.

Worcester also has Spanish on WORC-AM 1310.

Next year when they finally get the Newton site on the air bombing the 1200 signal into Boston, they'll actually lose some of their coverage in central and western MA.

The Hispanic population in Mass. is very spread out, I don't think any signal is optimal. You've got Boston, Lawrence, Lynn, Worcester. Nothing can reach all of them perfectly....although WFNX would hit the first 3 of those centers. Just thought I should mention!
