Rumor Becomes Reality? Roth Replacing Stern

According to Reuters, Chaunce Hayden, former Howard Stern show regular, wrote in his Steppin' Out magazine that "an Infinity source has confirmed the signing" of David Lee Roth on Stern's show when he leaves for satellite radio.

You may recall that Hayden is not a good person to keep a secret. Back in February, the SEC questioned Hayden on insider trading regarding his Sirius stock portfolio - he was in studio on the day Stern's announcement was made.<P ID="signature">______________

If this were true, do you think this would mean Rock would likely continue on WXRK?

DANNNCCCCCEE THE NIGHT AWAYYYYYYYY--AH HA! OW!

I'll be listening--mostly to see if it's the trainwreck I would expect it to be.

This is still a rumor though and I'm not sure Mancow is out of the picture yet.

Why not team them both together and wait to see which one gets demolished by the other! What a battle of the egos! How many #one radio shows has DLR done or been a part of???????

Re: Rumor Becomes Reality? I Have An Idea! Roth Replacing Stern

FMQB goes into a little more detail on their website..Roth has worked on stations in Boston and L-A, and was apparently well recived by listeners..I'm sure Howard will have more to say about this when he returns on Monday..remeber that Howard also said prior to his July 4 hiatus that he thought he would be cut loose sometime this summer..

I'm wondering if this has anything to with the pace picking up to finish the Sirus studios..as I remember it, they were pretty much complete..

Re: Rumor Becomes Reality? I Have An Idea! Roth Replacing Stern

For one thing, up to two dozen of Howard Stern's current affiliates (perhaps including flagship WXRK-92.3) will change formats when he leaves.

For another thing, not all of Stern's stations will replace him with the same show. I think that at least a few Stern affiliates may decide to replace him with a local morning show, especially if a local "name" is available.

And additionally, I feel David Lee Roth would be a better fit on classic rock stations. I don't think very many Stern affiliates are classic rockers.
