Rumor, fact or fiction:

Jonesboro, Texarkana, Ft. Smith and Shreveport CC stations SOLD already.

Don't know if it's fact or fiction, but it wouldn't surprise me. At least a few of those stations are apparently already spoken for according to R&R. I also know of a station swap in the works involving two of the markets on the list. It was actually announced about three months ago within the companies involved but has yet to be announced publically. Since you didn't mention it, is it safe to guess Fayetteville is not expected to be sold with the bunch under the rumor you heard?

I have not heard that those particular CC stations were sold, but I did hear that management told CC Fayetteville employees that nothing would happen for two years. Two Years? yea right, management tells them that so they won't leave immediately which could kill ratings and revenue and essentially driving the price down for those properties plus the GM would suddenly be expendable. If I worked at CC Fayetteville I would be looking for the exit quick. Those with fat paychecks will be the first to go.

There are 4 or 5 personalities currently doing VERY WELL, not just at Clear Channel either, for this size market. I can tell you The Eagle has at least 120k invested in their morning show, and in the past I believe Wilhite and Wall at KIX made well over 100k.

There are people in smaller markets than that in the state who are doing fairly well. You don't have to be a major market veteran to pull down the big bucks. It IS kind of odd though...

BUTLER PUT UP A BID ON THE CC FAYETTEVILLE STATIONS! said to have offered the "X Mail Truck and the X-Beach House" straight across! Oh, and he didn't want Deek(sp?) back!

Funny you should say that. He and his partners will be over there soon kicking the tires. For REAL. The look on faces in the building will be priceless.
