rumor has a deal announcement today siri/xmsr

joe ,

I think it gets done relative to the joint venture they operate now.which the fcc mandated with its demand for interoperal devices deliverd to end users.......think about it,for a second..

if they launch the interoperal service and they will.......they just need to transfer all control and rights to interoperal technology in the consolidation of control.

found this interesting from one of radiowaves sister sites, the truth of what martin really said on the merger.

www.tvtechnology.com/pages/s.0014/t.719.html

Martin also sidestepped specifics regarding the much-rumored DirecTV/EchoStar and XM/Sirius satellite radio mergers. In both cases, he insisted that the commission will access "conditions at the time of merger proposals." Regarding DBS, Martin acknowledged that telco's entry into the TV delivery sector means that the marketplace is changing "dramatically," which may affect the FCC review.

guess we can relax for the time being

I wont post the source of the information, but Its from a person I know that meet with hugh panero very recently, last week

the dual chipset unit is done, as we have known for some time now. it does require two tuners and two antenna.no manufacture currently has plans to build the device and neither company sees a reason to build it currently.with both sirius and xmsr maintaining the position the have meet the fcc requirement for a dual chipset..

lets turn to the merger

HP - That would have to be a long way off.

(edit name) - Aside from the FCC duolopy requirement there are a lot of synergies. You would end up with an enormous digital pipe. Operational costs could be significantly reduced. Programming could be al-a-carte and churn would probably be cut by 66%.
HP-Yes, these synergies are good for both companies but there are a lot of things that have to happen to make it work. If it was going to happen it would take a long time. The discussion then turned to SAC and budget management. HP was very strong on how well XM holliday period.

these merger people know as much about a sat radio merger as marilyn manson knows about jesus ::)
