Rumor has it that TRN is moving Savage?

I don't have details but I heard today from one of his affiliates that TRN is moving his show?

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks!!

Time change, or so I hear. I have no details, so I'd love to know more.

TRN is moving their programming off Starguide and Westwood satellite receivers and going exclusively to Dial-Global. They will be doing away with several show refeeds since the D-G receivers can autoimatically shift programs. They may be talking about
The refeeds of Savage?

Maybe, but the Savage affiliate was asking about 6-9p central, which TRN's website claims are his live hours. They also claim 5-8p central are his live hours. Is his show 3 or 4 hours live?

Also any word on when TRN is gone from Starguide?

Why don't you just make a phone call and ask?

Doesn't seem right to waste their affiliate relations peoples' time. I'm a competitor.

Starguide shutdown is Oct. 15 IIRC.

Yep, that's what's up. Just talked to the affiliate - they are dropping the refeeds, so Savage will be live from 5-8p Central. The affiliate is using the changes as an excuse to get rid of Savage. He's tired of the burdensome spotload among other things.

Thanks for the info.

I think Savage is only doing 2 hours live now.

Every time I hear of a hate crime-such as a homeless person being attacked or that Muslim cab driver who was attacked -I think of Savage. No he's not responsible, per say, but what kind of 'climate' is he helping create ? Ditto for all the other right wing goon talk hosts !

I didn't think Dial Global receivers could shift programs like XDS could.

Dial Global has a video for replacing the XDS receiver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JbzCvXgdgQ
The new DG receiver schedule: http://www.dg-tech.net/Content/TRN-schedule.pdf

I'm shifting Jerry Doyle now using the new D-G receiver. It isn't as user friendly as XDS (D-G has to program the changes - you can't), but it does show shifting with no problems.

I had heard a rumor 6-12 mos ago that TRN was considering moving Savage to Noon-3 EST and that he might physically move to Florida as well. Had talked to a couple of his affiliates that had been approached by TRN to feel them out. Neither of these stations had Rush so it was a move that they would at least consider.

That news would make my year. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

We're shifting Clark Howard to evenings using just the DG receiver.

Doesn't he go to Florida every once in a while for tax reasons. I believe Rush did that from New York and then totally bailed from New York. Not sure what the tax situation is in SF although California taxes are probably enough to get him to be a partial resident of Florida.

As for his time slot he would probably like to be on right after Rush but it would be an uphill battle trying to get time away from stations with his buddy the Wallbanger Sean Hannity. Most stations appear to like the guy in the 6-9 slot as he has a lot of stations airing him then. East coast is live but the rest of the country is delayed one way or another.

As well many stations carry Hannity live and then roll into his live show and if he came on at the same time as Hannity it would water down his show on those stations if they carried him delayed.

Savages show starts at 6:00 PM eastern time. He follows Wallbanger rather than compete directly against him.

Savage did buy a house in Florida and was doing the show from there for a few weeks, but has said on the air that he doesn't like Florida. He has also said several times on the air that he is thinking about ending the show at the end of the year (that was a couple months ago) - probably just a passing thought or a negotiating ploy, not a reality. Since his book is out, he seems a bit more focused recently.

I believe it is true he is only doing the first two hours live - he often will close the second hour with something like "and that's it for today". They usually have a pre-recorded first segment of him reading his first hour monolog notes - so the third hour sounds like a current day show.
